Just how big was OiNK?

I can't remember, anybody have any idea how many users/torrents/general stats from the last few weeks Oink was up this time last year?

I'm interested to know how well What/Waffles have done in 1 year what took OiNK 3..

If i'm not mistaken, there were around 180000 members. Can't remember the no of torrents though.

although i do miss oink.... what.cd has taken big time music torrent sites to the next level. waaaay more community involvement going on at what.cd then oink ever had

Merging What and Waffles is a terrible idea. I use both sites, both are great, and I'm glad they're separate, as I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket.

Oink was reaaly great... and i miss the pig also ...

I think the "new" alternative are very good, but oink had immense members and so more leechers, seeders, etc... but this has become a problem.

^ I don't agree that OiNK had many leechers. It was damn hard to seed there also, just like waffles.

Yes I too miss my pink pig :( There were just over 180,000 members at the time that it was closed (183,000 + change) and over 220,000 torrents on site.

So by those figures, What has exceeded OiNK's torrent count by 50k and Waffles is only slightly behind OiNK at 199k currently.. That's not bad for 11 months!

The big difference is the users, 180k! that's crazy, I doubt Waffles will ever get close to that but I think What.cd might have a go ;)

So overall, as we head towards the first anniversary I'd say it's been a phenomenal HQ music torrenting year that shows RIAA etc. just how quickly epic sites can be replaced.

Thanks What and Waffles, I felt like my arm had been ripped off the day OiNK died, but right now I feel pretty damm good :) Ohh and good luck Alan on the 14th November, I'll be thinking of you mate.

I think Alan Ellis does down as a legend, he made a site that is unparalleled, even by highly funded places like itunes.

Yes, but I despised that tracker long before I was banned from it.

And it was only "one of a kind" in the negative sense. They have been replaced and it is a good thing.

i have a ss from right before it went down. the stylesheet/banner i had is still one of the sexiest i have found at any site even after all this time. im fine with what/waffles but i would take the old oink over either of them in a heartbeat.
