Help this new kid out looking at my interests, which private trackers should I go for
Hey guys!
this is my 2nd topic on this forum. I already posted a topic where I asked information about swebits and how to get a specific movie. With the help of a few fellow-members here I am now a member at swebits and someone uploaded the movie for me on another tracker. Now I am relatively new to torrenting so I would like to know where I should be looking at. I have checked and read about most trackers but am lost. I will quickly list my interests and maybe you can help me out and give some advice! :)
My interests:
Movies:
I watch a lot of movies, I like to collect them aswell. Therefore I am found of DVDRs with the correct subtitle if possible (Dutch). Now I can also get subtitles elsewhere if the movie is not subbed in Dutch yet. I also watch XviDs if I don't know if the movie is any good. If it is good I download it on DVD and burn it and put it in my collection.
Music:
I especially listen to house, techhouse, trance, etc. But I also often listen to other kinds of pop music like 'the killers' which are 'in' here nowadays. I have read that waffles and what.cd are music trackers but that seeding is really hard so I do not know where to go...
TV Series:
I do not often watch TV series. I am just not into it. I don't watch lost, prison break, etc. Though I watch the standard series like South Park, Family Guy, etc. Because I am not found of TV series really I am looking for a tracker which just has the common ones.
Games:
Just like TV series, I need a tracker which has the new games when they are released.
About the tracker:
For each case I am looking for a tracker which offers nice speeds, a relative good 'pretime' and has a sufficient amount of leechers to maintain a positive ratio. But for my main interests, movies (DVDR specifically) and music 'trance/house/etc., as much as possible should be on there. Furthermore I would like to get actively involved in some trackers. That means that I want to be active in the forums and especially IRC to get to know the people. I have heard that trading is a bad way to get yourself into sites, and just be nice to people and get to know people better gets you further than trading. I can download with 1.2Megabytes per second and upload with about the same amount. I am looking for trackers which are fast even with low number of seeders
My Problem:
There are so many trackers that I just do not know what to look for or which ones I should get. Also I am aware of the fact that some trackers are harder to get into then others, which is kind of a shame but in my opinion also the best.
Trackers I had in mind:
From what I have read so far and according to my interests I have come to some trackers which I think are wise decisions. But please, wipe them out if you think they are not what I am looking for, but also add other trackers which might be more to my interest.
Sceneaccess - good pretimes, nice overall content.
Torrentleech - standard TV shows games etc., lots of leechers.
Scenelife - active mIRC and nice people.
Scenetorrents - kind of related to TL? But people advise me this.
TranceTraffic - heard its pain in the ass but is specific to the music I especially like
TheDVDclub - focuses on my special interest (movies), willing to become active member there but are they (staff + members) active at forums and mIRC?
For the rest I do not know. I have good advise of some people who are into torrenting, but their advise also differs from person to person. Please help me out and state your opinion ;)

Hi Veidenbaum!
because I am new here I cannot send personal messages. I will post some links of my speedtest below, I am uploading at this moment so my upload is drastically lower.

Re: Help this new kid out looking at my interests, which private trackers should I go
I think TTi would be good for you, they have a very good movie section, with packs and the subs your looking, with a nice movie of the week feature. Its very easy to keep ratio there because of all the free leech and bonus system, decent speeds from the nordic users and over all its a very good tracker.

Thanks for your advice and comment m8. I thought about TTi aswell. For DVDR movies it would be really suitable. I will try and ask some friends how it is like and if its really good and maybe they can invite me or so. But because I am a movies fan I thought theDVDclub was a better option to go for if I wanted to be active on IRC etc. because it is a lot smaller than TTi, right?
thanks!

True.
TTi is great for DVD's. Especially for nordic users. And if I can get nice ratio with my 60kb/s up then everyone can.
To OP. Your speedtests looks ok.
But if you can't send me e-mail I can't invite you :(

Re: Help this new kid out looking at my interests, which private trackers should I go
I'd recommend TorrentLeech & STMusic and once you get the hang of seeding / uploading files you should upgrade and try to become a member of what.cd
as previously mentioned TTi is a great site if you like DVD-R's
**Edit**
The DVD Club is a decent tracker but it's not got many leechers and hard to seed anything other than movie of the week so I'd skip that one till you get more experience

Hi Veidenbaum!
thanks for your comment again. I can't send you a private message, true. But when I click your profile it says send an e-mail to... should I do that? I am delighted that you are willing to invite me but with inviting someone come risks as I have read a noticed here. I will behave or how to say, at least, will not get you into any troubles. If I shouldn't e-mail you, then what can I possibly do?

Hi Time-Traveller,
so far I have TL, TTi, and STMusic as best options. Do they all fit my interests or should I look for others aswell? I really would like to be active on a certain DVD tracker and discuss movies, what is my best bet?
thank you for your comment.

I did my talk about traders and cheaters, why would I. I just want to fulfill my interests, and via a honest way! Thanks for your concern and kindness!!!
E-mail on its way. and yes I am interested in STMusic, if they offer trance/house/techhouse etc.

SD-Bits, PTN & Teh Connection are all really top notch for movies but remember any specialist tracker will generally be harder to seed on and you might find it difficult to get an invite for the first two I mentioned, Teh Connection probably a better target for you to aim for, the site has recently been relaunched with what.cd's Gazelle codebase and it's looking super smart these days

I heard about PTN and Teh Connection yes. But isn't it the case that PTN is so 'special' that there are so less leechers that it is almost impossible to seed? I have never heard of SD-Bits. I will look into that one a bit. Thanks!

It can be hard to seed files you've snatched but the site is ratio free so as long as you seed back to either a ratio of 1:1 or 72 hours seeding time per torrent then everything is cool, although obviously the longer you leave them on your pc seeding the better this earns you bonus points which is converted into gold for you to spend on the site :)
Another way to build your upload credit is to upload your own files to share with everyone else, you'll need plenty upload credit if your going to gamble it at Blackjack, it's a great little community site.
*Edit* SD-Bits is mainly a mix of movies, tv, sport & documentary's

Re: Help this new kid out looking at my interests, which private trackers should I go
the first 4 on your list are pretty much redundant. All are 0 day with some packs. Same packs most times show up everywhere anyway.
TT is actually pretty easy to get (relatively), but try for What or Waffles they should satisfy your tastes. So is The DVD Club
SCC, TT, and TDC should do you well, and for games BCG is the one.
-
Re: Help this new kid out looking at my interests, which private trackers should I go
I can help you with Scenelife, if you still need it.
-
Re: Help this new kid out looking at my interests, which private trackers should I go
slammers, I sent stmusic code to your e-mail...
enjoy and don't forget to seed.

Thats some useful information.
at this moment I feel most like getting into TheDVDClub. BCG is not really what I need because I only download games when I feel like it, and that's not often. Or some big title needs to be released.
But if I get waffles or what.cd, isn't there the problem that I can't maintain ratio because there are no leechers? :O
Thanks for your reply!

If scenelife is really an active community I would like to be a part of it. If not, then you are probably wasting an invite because I am into ScL because I heard from some guys that it is really friendly and has a nice atmosphere. If this is not true, then spare yourself the invite. If it is true, I would be delighted to get an invite! Your choice, your call. ;)
-
Re: Help this new kid out looking at my interests, which private trackers should I go
ScL has pretty active forums, but they don't have many leechers, so it's a bit hard to keep a good ratio there. I don't know anything about their irc, because I never have been there.
So, how can I contact you?
-
Re: Help this new kid out looking at my interests, which private trackers should I go
If you want an ScL invite then just contact me, I would like to know why you want to get in and how you will use it.
Speeds doesn't really matter as long as you've got the willingness to seed.

I have got ScL already now!
thank you though!

Saw that you already got a ScL invite, sorry for the waste of a post.

Re: Help this new kid out looking at my interests, which private trackers should I go
Getting/keeping a good ratio on What/Waffles is pretty easy, just upload everything forever and be patient (or start uploading good rips yourself). I'm seeding about 750 torrents for what right now and get about 1-2GB upload per day.
Plus the odd freeleech will get you elite in no time.
-
Re: Help this new kid out looking at my interests, which private trackers should I go
I would pass on thedvdclub and try to get BitHQ. BitHQ is a DVD-R only site and the selection is great. It's much easier to seed and maintain a good ratio there as opposed to thedvdclub.
-
Re: Help this new kid out looking at my interests, which private trackers should I go
I really would recommend revtt if you get the chance to grab an invite. Hopefully you get what your looking for =)

Re: Help this new kid out looking at my interests, which private trackers should I go
Hmm, while probably not the OP's intentions, this thread ended up becoming a request thread more than a discussion. Since the OP made an earnest effort in finding out what trackers he needs, people have rewarded him with a few trackers. That's a really good thing to see on FST as if the OP would have made a request asking for all those trackers it probably would have been spammed to hell. Now, since the community has been helping the OP out by giving him a few trackers he probably doesn't need many more ATM. Don't want to overemcumber him with too many trackers. Anyways, as far as movie content goes Tehconnection, goem, and passthepopcorn are all good movie trackers. Goem was the king but tehconnection is becoming a fast riser and passthepopcorn has gazelle and nearly as many torrents as goem. All three sites are relatively easy to get into. So once you've buffered up your current accounts I'd look to add one of those three.
-
Re: Help this new kid out looking at my interests, which private trackers should I go
Agreed... I don't know much about movies and musics as I'm not too much into it but I'm sure TL is a really nice start, at least for new games/movies (and apps).
Don't know if he'll need much more after those gifts =D
Good luck and welcome to "torrenting".

Thanks for your comment, Rigel9!
Well for now I will keep my chances with either TranceRoute or TranceTraffic or so. The music I want aside from trance/house etc. I could indeed get via waffles and what.cd. But now my concern is that my harddisk isn't that big to seed 750 torrents, not even for 24 hours a day. So I will skip this option though if you're possible of leaving your PC on 24/7 and have a big HDD, then this is indeed a brilliant tip!

I also want to thank you for the comment Ichigo81 and this is something I am going to consider for sure. I checked the review of BitHQ and it has about 2000+ torrents, all DVDRs. I do not want to get into too many trackers because I can't use them all and maintain a good ratio, so I am doubting between TDC and bithq now! But we will see, I still have time enough ;)
Thank you for your tip!

Thanks FlipRising21!
I already obtained RevTT the other day from a friend. People tell me that it is almost the same as TL, so I should not get TL then, right? Or do you say TL is better and drop RevTT (which of course would be a shame...)

Sanka113,
you summarised my thoughts aswell. I was just here to ask some advice and I know there is a requests and giveaway section so probably people thought that this was pretty nice organized and I really showed interests, maybe that's what made them make the decision to invite me to a certain tracker. When I read the requests in the requests and giveaway forums, sorry but they are 'crap'.
But do understand. By making this thread I had never the intention of making it look like a camouflaged request thread. I just wanted your opinion to help me out. Having 20 trackers doesn't get me any further. Of course I am the one who decides in the end which tracker to go with and which one not, but all help is welcome!

Hey 7th,
thank you for your comment! I have RevolutionTT at the moment, and I already stated above / questioned whether RevTT or TL were the same kinda? And if not which one is the better one according to the person answering that question :P.
I am very glad that I received these 'unasked' gifts. I see this is a nice site, that is if you treat others nice you are treaten nice by others. Kinda seems like the Golden rule of Christianity :P
THANK YOU SO FAR GUYS!

Hi Veid,
just wondering if TTi of TL ever has open registration? I am in the same boat as Slammers, just starting out, and mostly interested in dvds..thanks..t

Re: Help this new kid out looking at my interests, which private trackers should I go
No, they do not. They are what is referred to as "private trackers". New accounts are obtained by invite only.
-
Re: Help this new kid out looking at my interests, which private trackers should I go
I am kind of in the same boat as Slammers. I have seeded some football games on a tracker for the last 4 years so not new to torrenting so much, but like slammers, new to looking for dvd/etc trackers(football is all i know..haha), so looking to find a good tracker or three that has a good selection of dvds mostly. I did try one tracker, but everything was avi or xvid, which is ok if that is all there is, and the selection was not too good. I prefer dvd quality, full dvd when possible. But from searching the net and reading around here, that TTi, TL, BitHQ(especially this one, as I have read several places about them), cinematik, u**t, dvdclub, sct, and the other sceneetc's look promising oh and cartoon chaos for the daughter. I checked out each but they all require invites. Do any of them ever have open seasons, periodically that I can look out for? I have read a lot about invites and believe it is taboo to buy or trade etc for invites, so I guess if I need an invite what is the best way of knowing if a friend or other might be a member of one of these? I know some places have short windows sporadically where you can register without an invite. What is the best, and correct method to get an invite if possible for the ones that don't have open season? Thanks for any advice or recommendations..t

First starters, look here. You'll find most of your questions are answered there. From there, you can determine what trackers will hold any interest to you.
You'll notice that not only is there a spreadsheet with all the basic info, but there are more detailed posts listed below, as well as links to reviews of most of the trackers which show screenshots of the content within.
As for how you should go about obtaining the invites is anyones guess, and I'd wager everyone will insert their 2 cents worth. My recommendation would be to learn from reading threads which interest you, help others when you can, and above all else, be a mature member of the board. I can't stress that last part enough. Invites are given to those which demonstrate the ability to be responsible. If you act like an ass on the forum, it is not unlikely you will do the same on a tracker. No one wants to be responsible for inviting an ass. (not saying you're an ass, just making an example) :)

I am at usenet already and use torrents for stuff I can't find on usenet. Especially TT for music for example....

^lol i knew soon enough he would turn this into a req thread...
Stuff that is on TT is hard to be found anywhere else. But you can make up for TT by having Elektr0nik and TranceRoute.
If i was you, i'd get to looking for those immediately.
