Question about account giveaways

I've been torrenting since the fall of 2004. Since then, I've moved from tracker to tracker, trying to find the best to feed my needs. I have lost some accounts due to inactivity, while for others I've bought a dedicated laptop+internet connection (much like a seedbox, but with lower speeds :)

I have a question: what do you do when you find out a tracker is not for you? Since account giveaways are not permited, is deleting the account/letting it die due to inactivity the way to go?

Let's say you request an invite to ScL, a site everyone is talking about in some parts of the world. What a disappointment that tracker was! Hundreds of torrents with 1 seeder and 0 snatches. Your download is 0 MB, upload is 0MB. Why would giving away this account be considered trading?

We've all been invited to trackers that for one reason or another didn't end up liking. It's not a big deal. But, the tracker staff would rather have you let that account die or delete it than to give it away to some stranger on the internet. This could also potentially cause you problems on other trackers you belong to. So it's best to just let that account die.

Absolutely agree with this. Account giveaway are forbidden by many trackers.
If you dont need an acc - let it die OR delete it yourself if possible OR request your acc to be deleted.

let it die but i'm sure you wouldn't you'll keep join it again to see what's new even after a 3 weeks :D

Deleting the account is the way to go really. If it is 0 0 then you have nothing to lose xD

or in some cases you could pm staff to do that for you if there's no delacc

thanks for guiding me. i thought and did the same myself, mainly letting them die due to inactivity. i know giving away accounts is forbidden, but so are public invites on most trackers.

By signing up you agree, that your account is for personal use only. (At most places anyway).

If you really don't like the tracker you joined I support too the idea that an account should be let to die or simply delete it by requesting.

Anyways I never did that and in all places I belong to I am active. Even if I don't like a tracker very much I do my best to not disappoint anyone.

what i'm trying to do now is 1) find out what the tracker is all about, so i don't ask for an invite or signup and be disappointed and 2) i try to move from 0-day trackers to dedicated trackers.

Sell it in ebay to the highest bidder. :yup:

If I signup to a site I don't like I try delacct.php, if that is not an option I simply ask Staff to either delete or disable the account.

If there is someone looking for it and is deemed to be a good user then i don't see why you should not give it away to the person other than let it go to waste,its like an invite only that you were kind enough to initiate the process of using the account before you got bored in the middle of the way and you just handed the drivers seat to someone else..so no biggie...
And yes alot of things are frowned upon by trackers even the fact that you are a member here could easily jeopardyise your bittorrent life...even invite giveaways themselves are frowned upon these days(ask yourself why those hypocrites are using different nicks here from those on their trackers),and especially the fact that the account is new makes it even more of a non-issue...this is FST dude,not TPS you misadvising hypocrites :)...so long as u r giving it out of generosity and not expecting anything in return its perfectly okay...and u will notice the account will not get disabled either,especially with hdbits(worst staff by the way).i know for a fact they secretly allow sharing hence giving it away...secretly of course.

^^ Take no notice of him. Let the account die or have it deleted. The space created will soon be filled by another user.

Saying you should just give it to someone else because it's a waste is the biggest load of toss I've ever heard. How is it a waste? The account gets disabled thereby creating space for someone else...simple really.

Think about your own personal safety as well. Your IP is forever tied to that account. If the person you've given it to messes up somehow then your IP will be tarnished. Staff will pass it along to other staff and viola. You lose invite privileges...you lose accounts at several trackers or staff even just suspect you of being scum and don't trust you in the future. For your own sake you should never give an account away it puts your reputation at risk.

Just because you made a couple dumbass posts that made yourself look like a complete idiot does not mean you should act like a little kid and take it out on me. Thank you. But anyone that knows me(my friends here and other places, my inviters, and my invitees) knows that is garbage. So nice try, kiddo.

And second...wow. Great job at letting everyone know that you support account giveaways. Which you people are pretty much the lowest in the bt world. But...I already knew you were trash when a couple days ago a good friend of mine got banned at a certain tracker after inviting you, a ratio cheater. So once again, he thanks you for that. It's people like you why I am becoming less and less active here. It's getting really hard to find honest members here to socialize with.

And one more thing, great job at securing the fact that pretty much anyone here that values and respects the trackers they belong to are not going to want to invite you anywhere now.

Because the account is for ONE person and one person only. If something happens to that account...traded sold whatever staff will look at all the IP's and share them around then if that IP pops up on another tracker it gets banned and you're stuffed. Not sure about the whole starving yourself thing but whatever.

Personnally attacking funkin is pointless. You're right though if you invite the wrong person the same fate can befall you, however it will be clear you're not that person. When you share accounts identities get confused.

I am on a static IP but that doesn't really matter as it has nothing to do with me, I was just offering up some advice in the hope someone might listen making the job of staff at whatever tracker they join just that little bit easier.

Eventually its his call i think,and true there are risks and cases can be made both for and against the giveaway..i guess letting the account die seems more of the safer thing to do.that i will concede but its not necessarily 100% the obvious otherwise the OP wouldn't have made this thread..it was healthy with u sear :) and i didn't accuse funkin of being a trader hell i don't even know the guy,i choose my words and am sure if i singled him out i would have noticed..maybe he just enjoys the attention...
