If DVD's and cinema tickets were considerably cheaper

would you still steal them from the BT internets?

(In China a few years back the big movie conglomerates (WB, Universal, and co) tried to compete with the widespread piracy that wasn't even hidden - shops selling copied DVD's with up to 8 films on them with watchable quality for about $1 or so - by lowering their retail DVD prices dramatically to something like $4 or $3.50, and even though more people started purchasing said material, the piracy continued.)

Still and all, if they decided to lower their prices in order to seriously attempt to oppose the competition, as opposed to make use of MPAA and the rest of their arsenal to bully us into submission, would you think twice about your home-made, freely-obtained marvels?

i would watch them in a cinema but still download a copy to resee it again on my TV

Hell yes, the quality of films recently (last 5-10 years) have become horrible. Everything seesm to be a remake of an old film or a film based on cartoons/comics. Of course there are exceptions (Doubt, No Country), but for the most part this is true. Plus people in theatres are rude and quite loud.

Would definitely go to theaters more often

I'm too lazy to go and buy it. Downloading is easier

I don't really support piracy. I just do it because I am young (and a student) and don't have the money to buy originals. I still go to cinemas to watch most of the new (and good) flicks.

I will definitely buy original DVDs. Nothing is better than an untouched and untampered dual layer movie DVD. I also don't have the bandwidth to download full DVDs. I download only DVDRiPs.

Well if that happened I would stop using my general trackers and keep my specialised trackers.

Oh yes. I agree. Nothing can match up seeing a good film in a cinema.

If cinema tickets were cheaper I'd definitely go and see more movies. I don't download cams or any of that crap when the movie first comes out so I have to wait until the R5 comes out. So if movie tickets were like 2-3 bucks for a general admission ticket at a regular movie theater i'd be all for it.

well..my side here..i like buying original stuff :D..it makes me feel good abt my self..so..yeah..i would buy more often i guess..it's like am helping the community grow!..

i think that if they were cheaper... yeah more people would be inclined to go to the theaters.. and buy originals...

I will always download everything I need as long as it's free. Why buy something when you can get it for free?

For me, its not so much the cost, well it is,i have 3 kids and another due any day now, I cant drive and the nearest cinema is 7 miles away.

£7.50 a ticket for me, my wife and 2 sons, 4yr old daughter not sure how much or her, bus fair would be £12 for a family ticket, Hot Dogs, Pop Corn, Drinks etc.

You would be talking £60+ for me to get to the cinema to see a 2 hour Film.

I think the other problem is Supply and demand, there is just ar to much supply, and not enough demand for it.

For every great film, you will get 100 crap ones, for every great game, you will get 100 crap ones (more if you are a Wii user lol) same for music.

I will think, wouldnt mind that, download it, think, How bad is this, never look at it again, but if i had payed £60+ for a movie in the cinema, or £40+ for the game, I would be disapointed big time, and probably never go/buy 1 again lol

If they were cheaper then yes i would buy dvds and tickets. Some DVD's are costing £20 Plus and for a night out at the pictures costs £50 once you include your snacks for everybody. For me a quick two hour film is not enough for a night out most people want to do something else after.

I don't blame the cinema for their ridiculous prices as everybody has to make money, but somewhere along the line somebody is greedy.

As far as am concerned ip-intellectual property-is bullshit,u dont own an idea.u gonna require alot more to convince me that what we do is equivalent to stealing...

if we stopped,RIAA and MPAA will be gone and the poor guys there will be fired ,i don't really want that to happen :lol:

I'd stick to my collection, anyway! It's cozier to watch movies at home. Speaking of what - DVD is almost past tense nowadays.

i guess i won't ... in home i can pause the movie go pee and continue :P
plus the annoying ppl in the cinemas

well in my area theater tix are very expensive....usually for a nice night out with a girl its over 40$ (tix, popcorn, drinks, etc). Used to be ~25 so i definitely go less often but there are some movies you have to watch in theaters to get full experience, so while i go less often, i still go depending on quality of film.
Same applies to DVDs. I continue to buy/support quality films.

I go out of my way to not support those Stone Age fucks. I lost faith in the entertainment industry a long time ago and it would take considerable measures on their side to persuade me to ever trusting them again for anything. I mean a long time before the whole OiNK takedown (which was the last drop) etc.

That being said, I have no problem going out of my way to support independent and/or local artists and entertainment.

No I would not. I go to cinema on regular basis, and happens to me to buy a DVD. I'd love to to it more often though :)

If I truly like a film, I will buy the DVD. If I truly like an artist, I will buy the CD or download from iTunes.

What I don't want to do is to pay money for something that turns out to be crap. This is where filesharing comes in. If we like something, we can make a conscious choice to pay for it, and if we don't, we won't.

The simple fact is that the entertainments industry (films, music and games) has had a complacent audience for far too long. Thrusting games on us that are bug ridden and need repeated updates to work, shoving music albums down our throats where the only decent track is the one placed on the radio stations, and rubbing our faces in films so dire that the only good parts of the film were the parts used for the trailer.

If we made a crap purchase in any other area, there would be cause to complain, and we would. Trading standards agencies can also take action against manufacturers and producers who fail to provide value for money. Unfortunately, due to the medium involved (audio, visual or gaming experience), it is hard to define when a product (film, CD or game) is value for money or not.

So, filesharing fills a much needed service where people can try before they buy.

I wish there is system in downloading that we download anything we need but we pay a little fee.. For example, movie entertainments have agree with torrent sites, torrent sites have a payment system like 10$ per month. We pay 10$ to download rights. It would be cheap and legal. And both sides can have profit. Basic calculation: If World have at least 2.000.000 torrent user (only Zamunda have 850.000 :D ) it means 20.000.000$ per month. And they pay for movies for their downloading rate. If there is a movie, it have downloaded the sites 5% of total download amount. They can take 5% of 20.000.000..

I do go out to movies at least a couple of times a month. I know it's a quite dire but birds love it. I mean a night out its always better than a night in doors, init? I havent seen a film on my pc for ages... although I ve got at least 400 GB of films on my pc.
About DVD's i recon its just waste of money, I have rented a few films before but I d never buy one, cause the dvd will get recked sooner or later and its like throwing money on the window... and also, how many times can you watch a film, ai?

Many times, I've seen Layer Cake 20+

You can always tell a good film because you can watch it over and over and over and over and over again.
