Swebits will in the near future also to launch some new fun things on the page that has been planned for a long time. What this will return us with.

At the same time, we want to now take this opportunity to ask users not to create a lot of unnecessary wires on the above decision of the Forum, but stick to the news wire: http://swebits.org/forum_trad.php?id=72378. No rules except those previously touched just tracker part is changing.

Other swedish trackers that has also shut down are: Wolfbits, Powerbits, Piratebits, Nordicbits, Hyperbits and mp3nerd.

It's interesting to see all of these trackers closing down. What'll be more interesting is when trackers hosted in other countries realize that if the bastion of filesharing is no longer an Eden, they might want to take preventive measures as well.

I'd predict that this case will lead to more lawsuits and hundreds or thousands of voluntary tracker closings.

As long as TTi and SceneHD don't close, all is well.

PS: don't care about sweDVDR, as they only allow nordic IPs.

another page of p2p history is being made right now. This most probably will be notice world wide by the media, spreading a perspective that who uses bitorrent is in danger of being caught by police unless they stop.

each countries have theirs laws. However in European Union countries is not that simple. I have read that a new law of INTERNET is going to be discussed in the EU Parliament and for what it seems, is to restrict free use of her.

Instead of shutting down completely, wouldn't it be better to move the server to a different location, provided that all of those trackers are hosted in Sweden, of course?

I do understand the concerns of their staff though, it's their arse on the line after all. I just think it's a pity that the lobby groups are getting exactly what they wanted, after this ridiculous first (not final!) verdict in the TPB case.

I see, thank you for the info. I am not on any of those trackers, so it does not concern me directly. However, I just hate to see trackers being closed / shut down, and the lobby groups 'winning' as a consequence.

Bad news, especially for those who use these trackers. But this event is definitely not a sign of the end times for bittorrent. Every time a tracker goes down a new one is born.

And the battle continues on. We should all remember the mantra of the hydra, 10 (or a dozen) may go down, but at least 50 come up in their stead. This is only a minor blow.

I was also remembering that trackers going offline en masse seems to be something that happens every year or so. People freak out and claim it's the end, but things just go back to normal eventually.

Why all the fear? TPB is still up and running. It will take more than what had happen to sink that ship.
