Japanese Rape Game Makers Ignore USA Request
http://www.blogpirate.org/2009/05/09...e-usa-request/
First off, let me make my voice known that I hate rape, violence towards women etc. I find that the people who commit those crimes deserve to die. So I will not be playing the game called RapeLay when its released(none North America Release) However, the USA seems to think that their laws apply to another countries again, which is getting old and annoying.
giantbomb “RapeLay is a molestation simulation that allows you to terrorize a woman and her two teenage daughters, with events ranging from groping on a train to gang rape and forced abortions. ” Just to make everything clear, I do not support this sick game in any way. If it was being released in my country I would probably sign the petition to ban it. But since its not being sold in my country its not my business. Well surprise surprise the USA doesn’t think the same way.
Seems they think it should be illegal cause its 1)wrong (different cultures value different things as morally right and wrong, telling others to follow yours is “wrong” I’m a hypocrite I know) 2)It breaks the laws in the USA and 3)they are under the idea that they know Japanese law and that the company is breaking it. They claim that Japan has obligations under the 1985 Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women to block this game.
Its a shame they think they know so much about other countries laws considering a group who does not like the idea of the game still have to defend its right. That group, Japanese government’s gender equality bureau. As they pointed out, yes there is a problem with the law but right now they cannot do anything about it.
Spokesperson for the game company, Makoto Nakaoka “We are simply bewildered by the move. (People telling them they are breaking laws and to stop it cause its illegal in USA) We make the games for the domestic market and abide by laws here. We cannot possibly comment on the campaign because we don’t sell them overseas.” Well said, well said.
giantbomb “Once “Free Phase” unlocked the different girls can get pregnant. If ever the child gets born the player will be thrown in front of the subway train. Forced abortion will result in the girls committing suicide by suicide pill”
That’s just f#cked up. Again I personally think the game is wrong but I also trust the players to know the difference between GAME and reality. I also wish the USA would be like hmmm maybe we should stop telling other countries what to do. But I live in my own world I guess. I hope the USA doesn’t come and tell me how to live that too

I would feel pretty dirty to even try it :O

Re: Japanese Rape Game Makers Ignore USA Request
I wouldn't dare touch it, if I got busted for anyting, it would be downloading this game, now that's karma, US says that's illegal and rape or pretending to rape is even more severe than downloding some simple movie or mp3.

Re: Japanese Rape Game Makers Ignore USA Request
man its sick.
jap developers seem to have been exposed to too much of radiation in hiroshima or nagasaki (under developed brains and god knows if they have a penis or not. probably satisfying their ridiculous selves by simulating these awful crimes against women)
i would definitely join to sign a petition in public interest to get it off the streets and maybe sue the m0th3rfuck1n retards who developed this.

So just because a group of Japanese game developers created an abomination of a game, that makes all of them underdeveloped and mentally unstable? And why must you bring up something that happened over six decades ago and to make a mockery out of it. The gaming community owes a lot to the Japanese for creating many great titles as it is. And what about Grand Theft Auto? You can do a lot of crazy violent shit in that game too. Should we sign a petition for that too?

Re: Japanese Rape Game Makers Ignore USA Request
There are games where you can sell drugs, kill people, kill animals, steal cars and the list goes on and on and thats ok with everyone. A game comes out about rape and everyone chucks a massive shit. Who cares. Life goes on.

Re: Japanese Rape Game Makers Ignore USA Request
Seems like things have evolved a long way from Custer's Revenge - the world's first rape game.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Custer%27s_Revenge
When it comes to "adult" cartoons/animation, the Japanese have usually shown themselves to be far ahead of the Americans on the 'pervert' scale.
But then Custer's Revenge was an American creation - back in the days before the Japanese practically took over the gaming world.

Re: Japanese Rape Game Makers Ignore USA Request
The game was released 3 years ago and in the illusion's homepage they deleated all about this game. I remembered until today, after read this post, that I have this game and I only played it like 5 min.
I say: Different cultures, different ways we think.
In my country the church and a group of parents think that the japanese cartoons (anime) are from the devil :S
Sorry for my bad english :P

They are on the committee!
I could care less about what another country sells in their country. But after reading the 2 posts that won in this thread, it makes me wonder how stuff like this affects "unstable" people.
But that is one of the funniest game covers ever!

Re: Japanese Rape Game Makers Ignore USA Request
btw, did anyone get to the last level of this ?
-
Re: Japanese Rape Game Makers Ignore USA Request
It's been an ancient tradition of warfare that men get killed and women get raped. Judging by the number of game titles on the market - and the reactions they elicit - it seems that it's perfectly OK for games to show the first but never the second.
-
Re: Japanese Rape Game Makers Ignore USA Request
I guess thats how the Japanese get off.
-
Re: Japanese Rape Game Makers Ignore USA Request
Maybe they can get away with making a game about it because rape is extremely rare in Japan -- while here in America it's an everyday fact of life.
But it gets much worse. In a recent survey in S. Africa, 31% of all men admitted to raping at least one person (maybe the other 69% lied about it?) and half of these rapists said they were repeat offenders. :w00t:

This wasn't even released in N.A., what are you talking about with bringing up GTA:SA? SA was not pulled off every shelve, it was re-rated to Adults only. Happens some big chain stores don't sell games rated Adult only. They also would not sell a game such as this one.

Hmm N/A is "Not Applicable" and GTA was removed from shelves here, and they brought out the 'clean' version sometime after.

Re: Japanese Rape Game Makers Ignore USA Request
The game is fucking terrible =/ I would never play such a pile of crap. Who in there right mind wants to play these kinds of games? Its completely insensitive and tasteless.
On the other hand, I dont think the USA has any right to discuss who plays this in Japan. Just another case of US must get involved in other peoples business.

Please do not bring history and race into the picture. It makes you look like an asshole.
But anyway this seems like a case of USA telling Japan what to do...If it's not released in NA I see no reason for USA to get involved in this. If it's not banned in Japan obviously it's fine for them, and if there's an increase in rape or molestation that's the governments negligence.
At the end of the day it's just a game.

O please, I've been playing FPS ever since I was 12 and you don't see me popping caps in people?
I do note it's your (personal) view, but you're either an overprotective parent or over influenced individual.
This game is sick but it'll make money for being 'new'.
-
Re: Japanese Rape Game Makers Ignore USA Request
it's not my personal view, it's a fact: some games go way too far and they can have a disastrous influence on vulnerable people.
of course, this doesn't mean you'll become a killer cause you played FPS..

Maybe I'm 'stong' enough to define the difference between right and wrong, that I don't see what's wrong with certain types of games.

ok, let me help you a bit:
RapeLay is a molestation simulation that allows you to terrorize a woman and her two teenage daughters, with events ranging from groping on a train to gang rape and forced abortions.
... you still don't see what's wrong with this type of game ?

Sounds like a fantasy porno game to me. It's like sexual practice 'BDSM' which to me appears inappropriate but to other acceptable.
There's also episodes on incest sex in the porn industry.

Different societies different values.in iran homosexuals get hanged http://www.wikiislam.com/wiki/Persec...of_Homosexuals
while in the the states they get awarded the presidential medal of freedom http://www.huffingtonpost.com/chuck-..._b_256710.html
Personally i think this game is sick and i'd be forever scarred if i ever came anywhere near it.
