Yaikes! Can I feel safe having both NAV and NIS?
erm..welcome to kazaa...
a virus cant fry his hd.. He prob turns his comp on and off to much (main cause).
How long has he had it?
He ever get mad and yank the comp plug out?
viruses ruin the software area of the hd.
Does his comp even start?
Disk error?
Tell him to go into bios.. set CDrom to boot device 1.
Insert Windows Install Disk.
It will boot from that
the setup has an option to FORMAT the HD (all data will be Zapped)
this should help
sorry for data lose.
tell him to learn to partion his hd (hopefully he did maybe) and store his important data onto a seperate partion so win windows partion is killed.. he wont have to worry about formating it cause his data will be safe on the other partion.
about 6 months.......oh and I found 6 files uploaded to my copmuter that I didnt download from kazaa.....and heres the viruses.....malware.worm_enerkaz.a Troj_sub7.213.b worm_swen.a witch im guessing cam from the sub7 hacking progee
Really a virus on kazaa who would have thought it. Of course there will be viruses on kazaa. Some people are like that, they want to fuck up other people's PC.
Welcome to the city of Kazaa
Just feel a need to point out that I was (of course..) aware of the risk of downloading viruses with kazaa.
But having them uploaded to my computer without any knowledge of it happening?
No, it had to be in something u downloaded, noone can just upload one to your computer.

Right. Thought so. The first message indicated this could happen, so I got a wee bit nervous. *phew*
People will only upload viruses if someone downloads from them.
So it's basically up to you to screen out all the suspicious files.
Image files, audio files and movie files can't have virus, so you don't need to be afraid of those file types.
Avoid downloading .exe files, and when you do, always check for virus.
For big files like OS, games or movies, try searching the verifieds before downlading. Chances are you will find there what you need and you won't be bothered with searching the network and getting worried about viruses or fakes.
If you want cracks, keygens or serials, try the proper sites for those. NEVER download cracks or keygens from kazaa!
Download programs from the official websites. Trial version + crack, keygen or serial = Fully functional version. :D
Always have the latest virus definitions.
If you do this you will surely never get a virus from using kazaa lite. B)
:P It is possible for someone to upload anything they want on your computer......And I was just trying to point that out im not as stupid as you think I have norton a mcafee so im protected... but I was trying to point out the the 7sub hacking problem........ :D
u need a combo of a firewall and antivirus to prevent uploaders of that kind.
I reccomend:
Zone Alarm+Norton Antivirus 2003
i got both of them but i still somtimes feel a little scaredQuote:

THAT would not in any way be an Kazaa-related problem.Quote:

...except that the common issue was you had to have an internet connection to get a virus.
7sub (I've heard it called sub-7 rather than the reverse), BackOrfice, and sockets-du-trois are various hack-into-remote-computer tools that can 'upload' files to a computer without their permission -- HOWEVER, they mostly exploit windows security holes that have been patched or have workarounds that can prevent their activities.
NO, noone can just upload anything on your computer if they could there would be no need for sub-7. And Sub-7 has to be downloaded and opened in order for it to be on your computer.
There ARE a very few superviruses/worms that CAN upload things to your computer without your permission.Quote:

Mostly, just running the latest Windows Security Updates protects you from them auto-infecting your computer. In other words, antivirus software is just ANOTHER line-of-defense against them.
This happens because of BUGS and exploit workarounds in Windows found by evil hackers (the ones that make the viruses.)
