After downloading some films lately some seem to have very quiet sound (not all)!
And I have to turn it up to max. which is not a major problem until my computer wants to let me know something (i.e. messenger etc.) and it blasts my ears off :blink: !!
I was wondering if theres any other way to boost sound in movies especially .AVI files, for a permanent sound boost to the file?
I use Goldwave. (this may be of use because i convert the max volume file to wav to use in Tmpgenc)
Just drag the avi into it and when loaded max the volume or try it and see what best. Star Trek Nemisis was so quiet i used Goldwave and Bob ya uncle. If you dont want to convert i sure there is a way to add the sound back to your avi.

But i don't really convert i'm talking about just when i watch 'em on my comp!
It only takes about 3to5 mins to use Goldwave (proceessor goverened).
I will find a way of adding max sound with shortest time.

Yes it is just Goldwave.
I can add the max volume file back to AVI but it is in Wav form and AVI went from 700 to 1,200.
so it sprobably of no use.

I just found out how to boost sound!!
If you download and install the newest version of k-lite codec file (2.05) you can choose to install an extra called TFM audio filter!
In this you can boost sound and use an equiliser! :D :D :D

Doe's it do it while you watch or does it boost there sound permanently?

Mate is the audio ac3? what do u use the ac3 filter?.If so uninstall it and tri and find an ac3 codec instead..the volume should be the same level as everything else then.Well it did for me.I cant offer u a link..i cant rembr where i got it from,but just tri a few place from google.

:ph34r: I've found it. You have to make a new avi out of the old one:
1> Open avi in VDub and verify plays in sync.
2> In Video select Direct Stream Copy
3> In Audio:
--a> Select Full Processing Mode
--b> Select Compression><No compression (PCM)>
--c> Select Conversion and make sure 48k/16bit, Check High Quality
--d> Boost volume if you need to. To bbost the volume go to audio and select volume. In the new window check "Adjust volume of audio channels" and drag the handle to boost or lower the volume. I've tried it and was able to boost the sound of a file to 985% of its original.
4> Save new Avi off to HD (PCM audio will make it much bigger so make sure you have the HD space). Select "save as AVI"
5> Load saved avi back into VDub and play. Check if audio is in sync. If not go to interleaving tab in audio and try to make adjustments in the delay section until in sync and then re-save as in (4)
This seems a bit difficult if you read it but just give it a try and you'll see that it's real easy.

Hey, hey, folks :))
The guy probably downloaded a movie in ac3 format.
m8 u said u installed the klite codec pack right, so when u play ur movie via BSPlayer .. right click while the movie with the low sound plays and see on the bottom -- like properties or something and you should see ac3 filter -- click it and then on the ac3 filter settings go to the mixer or gain ot does not matter and slide the volume all the way up ;)

But when i right click then look in properties it has three options
1 Default direct sound device
2 m-peg layer3 decoder
3 divx decoder filter
And none of these are changeable!
