Explain 'Homecoming' I am quite thick. Also I am asking on behalf of all the others who dont know and are too embarassed to ask. :P :P :P
Its a highschool dance the day after the homecoming football game. So they call it homecoming. :P
if it's after homecoming, shouldn't it be called post-homecoming?Quote:

lol
ya I had to skip it...
Too bad there usually pretty fun if you have a date. Heck there even fun if you dont have a date. :D
"Homecoming" is a time in the football season in which alumni are encouraged to return to their respective schools and meet at the game. It usually occurs midway through the season and for football it is usually in October.
It is generally accompanied by a party and always accompanied with beer.
I am assuming you use the terms "home team" vs "visiting team"
yea but this is a homecoming dance at the school so there is no beer there.
Here in the Uk it would be called a school re-union. Is that about right?
going next week.
its informal cause the football players complained that they didn't have time to go from the game to getting ready for the dance..
i dont mind cause that slashed ticket prices by 2/3's and i don't have to pay for my date's.
no dinner cost either! woohoo! :D
isn't that called school reunion?
where did american ppl come up with weird terms like that? ;)
no its not a school reunion it is a dance with other school members while you are in school.
I am getting more and more confused. I think I will go to the club at my Alma Mater and get drunk. :P :P :P
righteo, mate :pirate: :beerchug:
Homecoming is a dance that is held at the school and is for students that are in 9th,10th,11th, and 12th grade.
Actually it is much more informal than that. The "homecoming" dance is really for the highschool kids, not for the alumni.Quote:

In formal reunions, invitations are sent out and a party for the alum. planned. Reunions are usually restricted to a certain year or group of years. A homecoming is just a time for anybody who ever went to that school to show up at the football game.
This is more of a big deal in college, really. Homecoming is when you and those college friends you have kept up with, pile into a car and return to your Alma Mater for a day of tailgating (google it) and a night of bar hopping. The game usually is against your biggest "rival" so passion for the game is running high.
At a formal reunion, you usually take your wife, at these she stays at home, unless she is an alumnus, as well.
isn't that called a frat party?  :lol:Quote:
