im looking for a servant, can you wash dishes?
When i got dumped after 19 1/2yrs service I decided to do everything that I could only dream of when I had a Job, I'm sure you had something rattling around in your head when you was wasting your time in your deadend Job you wanted to do. I built some stuff,Passed a bunch of exams I thought I would never do,Learnt how to drive, Went places, This list is endless, Its easy when you know what you want to do, Just put some thought into it, You're free.
If i were m8 i would take a nice long trip to either across Europe or To Australia new zeland and Fiji fuck the real world man and just escape it for a few months clear your head and come back with a better perception of life and maybe even a path for the future :)
I would try maybe being a stripper. the perks are great and its not really a "job"
I have been unemployed for a while now. It is kinda nice once you get used to it. One thing I have found in my experience is that pants are for the employed. Sweats, shorts, or boxers are quite sufficient to get you through the day.
Also, when you go out notice just how many "slaves to the system" are wearing pants. Pants really are a symbol of the oppressed.
welcome to my world
been off scene Feb. (brain surgery) I'd have to say Megabyteme's right! Have to pick my wife up from work everyday and it's funny watching ppl walk out in the nice pants & ties. I love my sweats.
Best part is when my wife gets tired I just take naps for her (glad she loves me)
Naps RULE!
I'm already on the non-pants (which im assuming is trousers, not underwear)road. shorts and a t-shirt at the mo :01:
You are learning quickly, Gemby!
I think I can afford a personal dishwasher / cleaner or two with my new job :dabs:
Things I have to do after the first of the year...
1. Find new calendar (preferably one with Pembroke Welsh Corgis).
2. Hang it.
Oh, yeah, and finish my graduate degree and make sure my wife's needs are taken care of for her pregnancy. Twins, FTW!!!
Other than that, it's pretty lax.
What do other unemployed people do? I hurt my back about 18 months ago, so I have been going to school. However, we do have a limited budget for things. File sharing helps a lot with our entertainment budget. I love to cook and a lot of what I do uses inexpensive meats and other ingredients cooked for several hours. So we eat well, and have access to all media for entertainment. We can communicate with people from around the world.
I have found stuff to keep myself occupied, what do you do? Would it drive you crazy if you knew you would not have work in the next 3 years? 5?
I am going to be a stay at home dad. That sounds pretty cool to me. I am also going to apply to a doctoral prog or two. Why not, I will have a few years while the kids get older.
Excuse while I wipe the laughter tears from my eyes. It seems you think you will have time to do your own thing when your twins are growing up. You may get away with that for about six months, after that, forget it.
Anyways, you bunch of lazy unemployed persons! I am currently at work; we're getting training for some new GUI thing that is going to replace all other platforms.
It's boring as fuck, as I won't be using it, or hardly ever anyway.
Fuck sake. In the mean time I still have customers waiting, as no one else in this town seems to speak Dutch. Pah.
True
Luckily my l33t computer skills are so l33t that I finished my lab report way before anyone else, so I now have 40 minutes to do whatever I want.
Well, I'm still a student so I haven't had a job in the true sense of the word yet. I was brought up in a certain way, so that I think if I were to be unemployed for a long time, I'd hurt myself, prolly.
To each their own, though.
Don't be defeatist and dnon't hurt yourself thats a waste of your talents,Everybody is talented in some way or another, While you have time on your hands work at bettering your talents to your advantage. Lifes to short to just waste it. Think of something you enjoy doing and see if you can get a Job doing it, Luck plays a big part in life so you need to make your own luck because no one will make it for you, good luck.
I don't think she's quite at the self harming stage just yet
The Doc programs I would be applying for are in the evening. My wife would be home from work at that time. I can also take the classes at my own pace (one at a time, or more). My wife is finished with school after her Master's.
I like to pretend that I am a lazy no-gooder, but my wife And I have put ourselves through undergrad degrees and now graduate school.
I think it is fun to play with the notion that it is better to be unemployed than it is to work, because work is sooo ingrained into our cultural fabric. People feel like they have lost their identities when they lose a job. The social pressure to work and be ever more productive is concerning. Or for me, worthy of a good chuckle. I tell my wife I am "value added". :)
haha yeah :)
What about volunteering? It looks awesome on anyone's CV.
ah i've been looking into it actually- old people love me!
There you go, plus, if you volunteer in a charity shop, you get first choice on all those cool vintage clothes that come in.
One of my friends managed to get her hands on a Gucci jacket, it was one of those ones with the big shoulder pads they used to do in the eighties, so it looks super fashionable right now!
such a good plan- there are loads of charity shops near me so i will have a browse tomorrow. hopefully i wont be distracted by the vintage stuff btu i don't promise anything :P
Make sure to volunteer for one in a more -ahem- upmarket area, the loot is better. :naughty:
god bless west london and its upmarket charity shops :D
I am going to convince my darling unemployed husband to do some volunteering now...
Muahahaha.
I've got an interview :01: but the man on the phone didn't sound very nice- he hung up before i said bye. how rude!
Do you speak Spanish and Italian by any chance? I'll get you a job in that case.
i speak english and thats about it- was meaning to learn italian but i have a short language-learning-span :ermm:
Me too. Fuck.
