I have 'aquired' an iso. file that I have in fact installed using DaemonTools. However, it needs the disc to run and I cannot copy/cut the files in the 'crack' folder to the main folder because it is all read-only.
Any solutions?

you should be able to copy that crack out of it using this prog.
I'm not quite sure what you're asking, but if it's simply not working because it's read only, it might just be because it's already in use by Daemon tools and needs to be unmounted.
If you're simply just having trouble opening the iso, you can just open it with Winrar.

"Read Only" does not stop you from copying, just from changing (writing to) the file. All files written to a real disk are read only unless you use Nero InCd to make an RW re-writable. If your having trouble extracting what you want with daemon tools try ultraiso instead but there is no reason that you should not be able to get what you want from mounting the iso and taking what you want off of it in Windows Explorer.

PowerISO is good but still Daemon Tools is the best one, I've seen till now. I use DaemonTools Lite.
I use Slysoft's virtual clone drive instead of D-tools now. I like the right click context menu option to mount an image.
Makes it easier and faster than going through the gui of choosing your .iso file in D-Tools

You probably want to overwrite the existing files in the main folder with the files from the crack folder.
You can change those files from being read-only:
- Right click on the file(s) you want to overwrite and choose properties.
- Then near the bottom uncheck Read-only.
- Now try coping the files.

a lot of u don't know how to read. the OP says he already uses daemon tools ffs.
+1 more Slysoft's virtual clone drive. search online about sptd. then get the installer to uninstall and uninstall demon tools (tho there are other reminants i can't get rid of yet). even if he does use it, learning why it is shit isn't so bad.
i like power iso. insert into virtual drive and ur good, like it was on a CD

I like Alcohol %120 myself & never had a problem copying files from mounted ISOs.

I only just found out that Winrar could be used. It's the best option imo.

I'm just gonna add another bid in for PowerISO. It's pretty simple and easy to use.
The problem with Poweriso is it wants to create .daa files which are proprietary and can only be mounted with poweriso itself. Its an old ploy to try and force others to buy their software and that sucks. Magiciso does the same thing with its .uif files. So if you create an iso with Poweriso as a .daa and then try and share it you force others to use that program and thats not right. Ultraiso is really the best, it will open and create just about any type of image you can think of (except for .daa and .uif files cause if they did they would get sued by the Poweriso and Magiciso makers).
If you do download a .daa file (often they're hidden inside of rars) you can search an illegal converter that is floating around that the makers cannot sue since no one seems to know who made it. The same goes for .uif, search "daa2iso or uif2iso" and spit on those proprietary morons.

You should still give Ultraiso a try though. I think you'll find its alot more universal and powerful. I've used it for some incredible things like to extract movie files from a game install iso (thereby making the dvd a dvd5 instead of a dvd9 [dual layer]) and replacing them with exactly named copies that are 0 bytes (I just name them as notepad txt files and then put them on the modified iso and change the .txt to whatever, mp4 .bik .mpeg. This way the install will not error since it finds the movies or audio files and puts them in the installed directory. This allows me to use a cd or another dvd5 to put the movies and audio on and then after the install add them to the directory replacing the 0 byte files I created. So I don't have to use a dual layer disk, and often its enough to take a 5gig game disk down to 4.3gig and put the remaining 700mb onto a cd for after installation.
