Well it's been out since March 3, and still no cracked scene release. How long do you guys think it'll take before someone cracks it? Or has Ubisoft created a DRM that will kill off piracy of their games?

check public forum like http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtop...640&start=3150
Starforce was advertised as impossible to crack, also made popular with ubisoft releases, and it was cracked and made obsolete.
Ubisoft never said this their new DRM scheme was unbreakable, but basically it's like what happens with steam, when you must connect yourself to the servers periodically to check if your software is genuine.
Yep, sooner or later some group will end up braking it... that's their hobby I think =]
And look at what happened to Steam, nowadays we have cracks that patch it directly into memory. You can't play on legit servers using those and probably never will be able to, but there's a huge network of cracked ones, and it's easy to create your own without any file patching involved as well.
Ubi win end of story.
Considering the fact that there are already partially working cracks for this protection (Silent Hunter 5), I guess it would be cracked pretty soon.
Hope it doesn't turn out to be another StarForce (which held on for about 420 days, until RELOADED released this)
In next 3 or 4 weeks should be ready
From what I understand key parts of the game's logic are run server side so crackers would have to do some reverse engineering, but with no access to those parts of the code.
Even if it does get cracked eventually (fingers crossed), it's been out for over 2 weeks. Don't know about sales, but now the DRM has cut out the 'convenience' excuse of piracy, which in my opinion is a significant reason why North American's steal games in the first place. That must a record for a mainstream game not getting cracked from the scene? If it does get cracked, will the scene groups be able to crack the next Ubisoft-DRM'd game faster? Or would it just be another huge task for those groups for the next game.
Hopefully the purchasing population's public backlash against this DRM will be it's demise. Something like 5% of players are having problems because of the DRM.
A month and a half after release date? If so I think it's safe to say Ubisoft has won a huge DRM/piracy battle. That kind of success must be unprecedented in a single player game, Shirley
I hope that i`ll be able to play Starcraft II, i don`t need anything else hah :)
Wait and you will see...
WARNING!!! THE INFORMATION BELOW IS NOT CONFIRMED!!!
Group SKiDROW is working on crack. They hacked ubi.com a while ago (insiders are everywhere).
Prooflink? (use Google Translate if you can't understand Russian)
it's fake and posted on nfohump, look precedent post...
Heard ubi europe was being Ddosed sometime last week making things difficult even for for legit buyers.Talk about frustrated pirates lol.
nice work done!
March 3 - April 21
A bit less than 2 months, but Skidrow got it done. :)

While we worked on this release, we noticed that several news
webpages, forums, blogs etc. posted information, including a
screenshot of a Ubisoft server attack message, which showed
our group name.
First of all, that picture is a fake, nor would any member of
Skid Row cause such riot, as we're only here to compete with
our game release competitors, nothing else.
Neither do we encourage anyone to take such actions, no matter
how much we agree, that DRM's like this one, are only hurting
those that do want to buy the game or have bought it.
Another point is those news medias, we mentioned before, post
anything these days, no matter if it's a joke or not. Beware
what you're posting, just because you want to prank someone.
This release is an accomplishment of weeks of investigating,
experimenting, testing and lots of hard work.
We know that there is a server emulator out in the open, which
makes the game playable, but when you look at our cracked
content, you will know that it can't be compared to that.
Our work does not construct any program deviation or any kind
of host file paradox solutions. Install game and copy the
cracked content, it's that simple.
Since we don't want to see cheap imitations, we protected our
work with a solid shield. Not because we want to deceive the
majority, like certain people out there, but because we have
in the past been an open book of knowledge for our competitors.
Real cracking is done by The Leading Force
Yeah, they did it!. Now lets wait to see if are complains and gets nuked... (hope not)
I think that release is not nuked, but lets see.
It was just a matter of time.
And the debate goes on...between game/software developers and the reversers who's smarter?
Yup, SKiDROW finally dealt with dat fucking protection. Too bad I can't test their release and game cause my PC sucks :D
PS NFO is fun to read :)
