My friend wants to use it to install XP PRO on his computer.
My verion is registered and I get updates when they come out.
If he installs XP PRO off my cd will it screw me?

no it wont screw u just tell him to get his own serial number
Then there's the problem of 'activation'.
from here? how? thanks!
uhhh
What will happen when he tries to activate it?
Sorry I am a nnnnnnnnnoooooooooobbbbbb
Tell him not to activate it...
thanks for your answer. if he doesn't activate it, what can't or can he do?
He can do anything....
If he wants the updates he can download them from M$ WEBSITE...
OK thanks!
So, if I want to burn it. Can I? Just a regular CD to CD burn using Nero and give him the copy?
Explain that one to me, Cygnuz-Y. How can he continue to use a regular "legal paid for XP Pro" without activating it?
Isn't there a time limit for how long it can run while not activated?
There is a 30 day activation on the CD. I don't think it would work if he didn't activate it however I don't know exactly what happens. Your best bet is to head over to BitTorrent and go find a copy of XP to download assuming you have broadband, or have your friend find someone to do it for him.
As far as activation goes here is all you need.

In future you might like to try looking here. ;) :)
I never activated mine, its xp pro but not sure if its Corp, at the beginning it ask if I want to activate or it gives a option to skip, I always skiped it
I know all that but I just wanted to hear what Cygnuz-Y had to say.Quote:

It's also possible to convert a "Pro" version to be a "Corp" edition.
30 day period?????
I have my XP from 3 months now and it havent said nothing about activation..
BTW my CD key is not paid....
Was your CD from an "original paid for" Windows XP Pro CD? I think not.Quote:

Just messing. ;) And you adamp2p, only teasing ya.
just get a good corp CD.
those links don't show you how to bypass activation.
your best bet would be to use eMule & get it here.

I got that 30 days period activation when I used to use home edition. I am using the pro edition since last one & half years & I didn't get that worning yet.
I think the reason is my one is already activated.
To all you people that keep saying that the Pro version doesn't need to be or is already activated, all I can say is that you have the 'Corp' version.
vb is correct.
now quit being silly.
