Jonno, it's not a bad thing that you can't smoke atm.
Every cigarette you don't smoke is a step away from lung cancer, and more money in your pocket.
It's also a step further away from a prolonged, undignified and extremely painful death.
That can't be bad.
20 minute there and back on that machine of yours Jonno. If the norfolk roads are anything like the Lincs roads. :)Quote:

And he picks his nose and flicks it at me when i say please dont smoke.
have you seen the new warning labels on cigs these days.
i saw one that said "smoking will cause a early, slow and painful death"
good news then
Oh Lamsey, I knew you would jump in here at some point
Don't give me the anti smoking thing, I seen it first hand believe me but I also seen a very good friend die of Cancer and he never smoked, I also saw my Great Grandfather live to 98 y/o after working in mines and smoking from the age of 15-86 and he died of simple old age, so the way I see it.............I may get hit by a bus 2morrow........
In the words of the cat
It's better to live 1 hour as a Tiger, than a lifetime as a worm B)
I know the response.........."Whoever heard of a wormskin rug"
@Baz...........STFU......you smoked longer than me ya smeg head :P
Jonno B)
Well, if he won't take in what I said above, there's not much hope for him I'm afraid.Quote:

If someone isn't bothered about committing a slow, expensive and agonising suicide, I doubt they'll be bothered about your welfare.
That is 100% true....but if you been smoking since you were eleven, as me and Jonno, that is not exactly something you think about when you run out of tobacco in the middle of the night :(Quote:

Sad, isn't it? :(
If we were to help him stop smoking he would just pick his nose a lot more. :rolleyes:Quote:

Lamsey..........Sorry dude but but I have been smoking since you were 2 y/o
I wish I had'nt started but on the other hand I enjoy a smoke :)
It's my body and I will do what I will with it.........there are a lot worse things in this life than smoking
@Skweeky........Thankyou :D
btw, I can give up, I have proved it but when I gave up before it was cos I thought I ought to, not cos I wanted to, THAT is the difference <_<
Jonno B)
I have just had a close look at your sig Jonno, is that a fag in ya gob mate,
Very bad jonno
Bad boy Jonno
hehehe, to be honest I hardly smoke. I can do two weeks with one packet of tobacco. I like smoking a cigarette when I'm in the pub with friends, or at home drinking with friends, but I hardly smoke when I'm alone.
Last year went to a medical check up, the doctor literally told me that smoking like I do does no more harm than being stuck in traffic every day for 10 minutes....
Still...if I want a cigarette, I need a cigarette, there's no doubt about that. I think I could quit with some effort, but I don't really want to
So you want to die?Quote:

You want to end up in a hospital bed, with your throat being pumped to clear it of the accumulating mucus?
You want to go through all that, and put your family and friends through that?
If you don't want that (which any sensible person wouldn't), stop smoking.
There comes a time in your life when you have to face up to these facts and not glibly dismiss them.
Stop thinking that it won't happen to you. It will. This is certain. And no-one here wants it to happen.
;) Yep.....watched my Father die that way.He choose to live that Life....like I do.Quote:

I have maybe 30 years left. And I do not think I will make it to 58..he did not.I am going to enjoy it.I like Smoking. :D
Am I imagining this? With the exception of Squeeky, I am speaking to a guy who is having a conversation with himself? Dont forget I am an international PI and I notice these things. If I am imagining it then it is time for to go to bed before the Ribena kicks in.
My grandfather enjoyed the odd smoke of a pipe. His doctor also told him that it wouldn't damage his health very much.Quote:

Do you want to know how he died? I wish I didn't.
If you look up you might get an idea.
I'm serious about this, people. You need to actually think about it for a minute. Take off your blinkers.
I'm going to bed now before I get myself any more worked up over this.
I apologise for taking one of Jonno's threads into seriousness. I realise that as it is one of his threads, I should really be making smutty jokes about the shape of cigarettes rather than trying to save people's lives.
Sorry about that.
edit: @FC: I guarantee you won't be talking like that on your deathbed.
Your views are very good, But it's like pumping water into the vains of an herion adict, there will be no subs.
No words, no horror.
It is left the the person who has the addiction!
What do we do?
Come with me to the new planet and once there, you will feel no need to smoke.
Peace & Love
Ok Lamsey, I'm not gonna argue with you all night
I commend your strong view against it and would tell anyone NOT to start but.......like I said, I am not niaeve, I have seen the effects at their absolute worst and up close and very personal so you don't have to preach to me.
And not all lung Cancer is caused from smoking, Asbestoces, coal dust, MDF dust , fibreglass, I know all about it m8, there is nothing you can tell me thats new, I have seen the fx of them all and to sit there at 18 y/o and tell me what I SHOULD do is very self centred dude , not having a go at your age m8 at all ok.
And one other thing, I have seen people give up smoking and deteriorate very quickly because their body cannot take the rejection, so again.........I know!!! I know allllllll about it and I still CHOOSE to smoke, thats my choice............you play Archery.........you could accidently shoot someone.........I surf........I could drown (been very close) I ride a bike, I could hit a car (Again, very very close many times), do you see what I'm saying..........I could give up and be healthy until I get Parkinsons or MS etc, you see what I'm saying.............we all take risks, and they are our choices......this is mine..........my choice, my risk, my body, my life!

And then a Year later his Sister died almost the same way.She accepted it.....and went out Quietly.
Maybe I will not be talking this way on my Death Bed...maybe I will. But it is my Life.....has nothing to do with you or anybody else.No wife and no kids.....just me in this World.
*I love debates.*

ahhh this is the even better side of lamsey :)
Fuck me guys. Do you drive? Do you take public transport? Do you realise how many people a year die in road accidents? Don't ever drive. Don't cross the road. Don't take a shit cos a hernia could split and kill you.
And don't smoke cos at least we may enjoy a cigarette.
Living is the biggest fucking risk you will ever take and whatever gets you through it, enjoy it.
Fell free to edit the obscenity out of this, I don't often do it.
Edit: Apologies, was not meant as a direct attack on people.
Liam..my uncle died of lungcancer, I know how horrible it is. My father died of a heart attack because he refused to change his eating pattern...it was just as horrible to see...the last few years of his life he could hardly walk 2 metres withouth having to stop to catch his breath. My godmother died of stomach cancer, there is not other person that lived as healthy as she did....
What I am trying to say is that we all know the danger we put ourselves in. Don't think smokers don't realize what the punishment may be. I just think you don't need to pin down on one thing. Traffic each year is death cause number one here in Belgium...I don't think there are a lot of people who sell their car for that. There are so many things that can kill people and most of those things we create/have created ourselved. It's a choice one makes.
I am not defending smoking here, and I am most certainly not encouraging it. I am just saying that there are a lot of other things out there that kill just as much people as cigarettes, but are never mentioned because they are socially accepted.
I don't think that's fair, the same standard should count for everything.
Well done to jonno for keeping a serious reply up.
Wibble?
Might I step into the breech here for a minute. I have Emphysema, I have had a triple heart bypass operation, I suffer from Alzheimers, actually Pre-Senile Dementia as Alzheimers is the name after you are 65 and Arthritis I do not smoke! I respect an individuals right to do so as long as they are not making me passively smoke, and that is only to do with the smell on my clothes etc. Sorry for interrupting.
Actually I have missed out a few minor things but who the hell cares.
