i have a 20gig drive and i had 13gig (used ) and 7 gig (free space)
i was messin around on my pc like an idiot and 2 cut a long story short xp says
i have 7 gig used (i had 2 reinstall xp on this partion) and 13 gig (which has go my info on it) says 13gig of unpartioned space or it now has no FAT on it so its RAW. can i unformat da 13gig and get my stuff back?? :( :(
wat program can i use

If the drive says its raw im not sure that you can get your data back.

try partition magic 8, im not sure if it will do what you are asking but its got loads of partitioning features. i will google this prob and get back to ya ;)

Wow, it's pretty hard to "accidentally" format your hard drive. I havn't formatted in a while, doesn't it say "WARNING: ALL YOUR DATA WILL BE LOST. ARE YOU SURE?" or something like that, I can't remember.
i think when he reinstalled windows on the first partition it "lost" the other one :blink:

Pobably too late, but If you did absolutely not else after accidentlly formatting the hard drive, you may have a chance.
Your chances of recovering DATA increases dramatically, if you recently defragged your hard drive before accidentally formatting it.
If you did a QUICK format you are somewhat safe. If you did a COMPLETE FULL format, then your hard drive is cleaned out and there is no hope.
The only way I know how to recover DATA is to take make that hard drive a SLAVE and use a master hard, with Windows on it. Then use a program called EASY Recovery.
NEVER write to to the hard drive that is being recovered. Writing will delete lost DATA.
Well, if you are like me. You would still use DOS. And DOS does not give you many warnings, if any. Pressing one wrong key can be dangerous.Quote:

dos does give u a warning, if u are deleting files it does, it asks u to press Y/N key
i remember seeing a post like this before and the "RAW" status was due to the fact that they had been messing with permtions on their box and had disabled everything includeing the os form gaining access to the drive....which was why the partition showed up as "RAW" ...just something to think about were you messing with permitions at the time all this occured?
