The World Cup 2010 Official Thread
What I mean by that question is (assuming you love, or at least like Soccer) how are you preparing for the one month event?
how do you plan on watching the games? any special snacks or drinks?, will you have people over?
In my case, I won't be working during the World Cup :01: so I plan on watching the most games possible,
either on HDTV, spanish or english since I live on the Mexico/US border, or even the internet for the games that aren't transmitted over the air TV.
The local time here in Tijuana for the games will be at 4:30am, 7:00am and 11:30am so I guess for the ones that are very early
I'll set the alarm, get up and make myself a hot cup of Coffee with toast or something and then
probably watch it from bed in my 32" HDTV (assuming they air the games in HD which I think they will, as they been airing all the latest Mexico friendlies in HD).
For the games that are a bit later in the morning I might watch them while having breakfast on my kitchen Tv,
or again, if the game is in HD may be take the mini table and watch it in my bigger Tv; or may be I'll have breakfast between games.
I might stock on provisions before hand, I'd hate to be out of coffee or snacks just before a game, even more if my Team is playing.
And last I think I might be watching most of the games by myself :( since the people that usually watch 'futbol' with me didn't plan for it as I did.
Anyway I'm curious to hear if you have any plans for the event.

Re: how will you watch the World Cup?
Mexico is about to play England @ Wembley Stadium in less that 25 minutes; one could say the WC has already started for us here because we also play Holland (always assumed that it is the same as the Netherlands, right?) next Wednesday, Gambia a few days later and finally Italy on June 2, damn I have a feeling it ain't gonna be pretty, lol.

Man, do you live in Tijuana? Is that so dangerous as I see at every documentary?

Yes, I live in Tijuana and indeed it is as they portray it to be in those documentaries, I've seen a few of them and the only thing is that although they do mention the level of corruption in the police, the authorities and the government, it feels like it's under-rated, meaning that it actually goes deeper that it seems, one can feel it if you live here.

Re: how will you watch the World Cup?
well looks like the England's game's gonna remain one-sided (cruising at 3-1)...but the game's being played in England...I'd love to see how the Brits perform in the higher altitude regions

Is the referee what they call the guy who awards people for faking the best injury?

You know in American football people that go down so easily are called cheerleaders.

Re: how will you watch the World Cup?
The one at 1:31 is the greatest! I think I woke up my gf with the laughter.
So, flyers or blackhawks ?

Re: how will you watch the World Cup?
As a Canadianite I can honestly say that after Montreal lost I don't care anymore other than I pray to God that those Philadelphia cretins don't win.
Wait maybe I do care.....

and yeah, the 11th is almost here, can't wait.
Mexico is not doing too good in it's friendlies, although in the last match we won 5 to 1; then again, South Africa did the same the next day.
btw, do we have anyone from South Africa?

Stop pretending you are spanish. It's written Tapas. So please don't pretend to be one, accessing this forum via a proxy and choosing a spanish flag.
I will haunt with this one.

Re: how will you watch the World Cup?
geez; more and more it looks as if I'm gonna be stuck watching the games by myself, even the inauguration next Friday :-( ;
I really hope it doesn't tamper the fun, though I don't think so because it would be the first time.
I don't like the Pubs here in Tijuana, go figure right?,
and there is actually some people that are going to watch but they have a tiny Tv, I've grown accustom to my HDTV,
but who knows, may be things will take shape.
hey, how can i change the name of this tread?,
so I can make it something like 'watching the World Cup' or something.

Re: The World Cup 2010 Official Thread
it's only 15.5 hrs 'till kickoff, go Mexico!
I justs noticed that, at least from my end, Google has a soccer related homepage.
Here in Tijuana people are storming the stores at the mall to buy the Mexican Team Jersey ($100 US Dlls),
but they are being turned back because it's out of stock, lol
The black one (visitor) is quite popular since it came out, so hard to find it,
I got it yesterday at much lower price from a source, and also have the white one that I got when I bought a cellphone.

Re: The World Cup 2010 Official Thread
I'm betting for Mexico and Uruguay tomorrow. Mexico has one of the strongest squads on the cup, and will be a tough side to beat. They proved strong on WC 2006 when we had a hard time beating them 2-1 on the groups phase, and now they are even stronger.
Good luck.

Re: The World Cup 2010 Official Thread
Oh, they were just showing that and other highlights on Tv and I remember I was on vacation in San Fransisco at the time of the game
and we had to hit the road but we delayed it until the match was over, so then we was all quiet on the trip home, lol.
All because a stupid mistake from Rafa Marquez.
