Department of Justice still reviewing the law to build the administration's case — but decision has already been made to file a lawsuit.

Seriously?? FFS, the AZ law is an almost exact quote of the federal immigration law, only edited partially to suit the state, and the feds are going to fight it? :blink:

It's easier for whites to come here than mexicans, if not tell all the Albanians that have come here in the last 5 years and other european countries, such as Ireland, england etc, they stay without a problem.
And by the way if anyone comes with the crap that mexicans should follow the process, get legal before they come here, well there is not process, there is not way to get the green card any more so to let you know.

As for pento, the "problem" with Mexican immigration is that they come here with limited educations, without resources, and sometimes in poor health. There are also millions who cross the southern border, whereas other immigrants must travel further. I'm not saying that there are only a few European/Asian immigrants, but the emphasis of concern is elsewhere.

Ask an Irish immigrant how "easy" it was to come to the US. White is not a "free pass".


I say this, but I am a supported of Mexican immigration. How can I not support the spirit of someone who is willing to risk their life and leave everything behind, just to come here and do jobs that US citizens do not want- for pay that will not keep "us" in a lifestyle we are accustomed to?

The history of poor people coming to America is one filled with mistreatment and greed on the side of companies. Look to the practices of these "employers" first when pointing fingers.

These people (Mexicans, Albanianians, whoever) are brave and typically hard-working, they deserve compassion- not persecution.

And that's why this is call the land of opportunity, here you can do things you would never do in any other country, such as going to college when you are in your 40's or 80's, here doesn't matter how old you are.
And of course the people that come here are poor, there is not point in coming here without that need, that's why is call immigration, people leave their country because they have a need to do so. Europeans that came 40 and more years ago, didn't have an education, they did it because they were poor or other reasons.

It's posts like that that make me wonder I ever bother trying to have a decent discussion in this section anymore. I give up. :dabs:

I can see myself getting that upset if I were being pulled over and harassed for papers/green card because of appearance. The fact is, there are millions of legal, naturally born, Mexican-Americans who should not be harassed any more than you, or I, skiz.

And I have been harassed by local cops. I used to have a delivery route that had me drive ~65 miles a night, through the central portion of our city. I drove a POS truck to do it. I got pulled over for BS reasons. The more you get pulled over, the more likely you are to get undeserved tickets. My "crime" was not having much money. This made me distrust and, at times, disgusted by our local cops.

I can only imagine how angry I would be if the injustices against me were based on race, and lack of money...

What Arizona is doing is reactionary, and wrong. Again, if an area TRULY wants to stop illegal immigration, it will go after (seriously, not just for show) the companies who are hiring and abusing these people.

A VAST amount of this is guided by economics/greed/fear/capitalism. I could have written that out, but they are all one in the same, really. Each of these is based in inequality, not equality.

It is easy to blame someone of a different race, or socio-economical background for one's problems- it always has been.

In terms of social change, I do not see so much of a move towards equality, as I do see a more diverse group getting shit on. Instead of poverty and civil rights being STRONGLY in favor of whites (the "right" kinds, anyway), now anyone who is poor stands an equal chance of staying poor.

There are huge problems in our system. Instead of looking at the big picture, it is FAR easier to point the finger at immigrants, or people who look like immigrants. This has always been done to someone.

Now, about those employers. How can they get away with how they treat illegal aliens, why do they do it? Because they can. What can the illegal aliens do without fear of deportation? Now, what if they came into the country legally, do you think they would be treated the same way if their abuses could bring about repercussions from the various labor departments and civil rights groups? Legal immigration comes with protection of the law. Illegal immigration comes with no protection whatsoever.

You say you wouldn't want to go to el DF, well guess what, we don't want el DF coming here. In the last few years Cuidad Juarez has had over 10,000 murders. This place is right on the border. I don't want to see that enter this country, and I am sure any person with any brains would want that either.

Also, seeing what illegal immigration has done to the state of California, I can not see why anyone would wish that on this country. If you feel your country is so horrible, why would you leave for another country only the make that country as bad as the one you left?

Why would I fear being deported? Seriously? I am a natural born citizen. If I am pulled over and asked for papers, what would I give them? I don't need a visa or green card since I have a drivers license and military id. If I am asked for id, the officer is doing his job (btw it is already federal law that immigrants carry proof they are here legally). If the officer goes to far and I feel "profiled" or whatnot, I have options such as hiring a lawyer.

As far as being Hispanic, 1) one side of my family is from Spain (Hispanic? check), 2) one side of my family is from Mexico which is a former part of the Spanish Empire (Hispanic? check). So therefore I fully fit two seperate definitions of the term Hispanic. Hispanic is not a race but a ethnicity.

Also please notice that at no point have I made an effort to be offensive to you (ask any of the long time members here, they will tell you I am being quite polite for me :-)). If you wish to continue this please note that there is no need to talk the way you have been.

Why would I fear being deported? Seriously? I am a natural born citizen. If I am pulled over and asked for papers, what would I give them? I don't need a visa or green card since I have a drivers license and military id. If I am asked for id, the officer is doing his job (btw it is already federal law that immigrants carry proof they are here legally). If the officer goes to far and I feel "profiled" or whatnot, I have options such as hiring a lawyer.

you need to read up, if you "look" illegal, they can ask you for papers. that means if you look mexican, or honduran, or guatelmalan, you must produce papers at their will. be it green card, visa, birth certificate, ss #. It doesnt matter your legal status, all that matters is that your appearance gives doubt to your citizenship. Im a natural born citizen too but if a cop asks me for my papers i have to produce the same as juan the illegal. like i said there is no real way to distinguish that without biometrics. you seem to ignore that fact.

first of all, im not illegal so take that load elsewhere. i was born here, and ALL my family got here the right way, by standing in line. Nothing has EVER been given to me at all, so i dont owe you anything. On the contrary, you should be shinin' my Shoes.

i dont know where you come from. Really, im not trying to be insulting:P. But, youre dreaming if you think anything is going to last 10mins with the cops. Lets say i dont have my id with me at the time because i decide to run to the store really quick and i get stopped, what THEN? you really think its going to last 10 mins? Ive been takin in without an id and i know it takes at the very least 8hrs cuz you have to be fingerprinted. And thats besides the point, shouldnt have to be subjected to any of it. oh wait, i forget one more thing.....why are you ignoring the fact that asking for papers is not going to insure ANYTHING? Again the only way to do this is BIOMETRICS...Anything else i could buy for 300 bucks at a strip mall in the hood. So whats your arguement there?

It would be interesting to see the reaction if white gun owners were subjected to similar profiling.
Think they'd be so complacent/compliant/cheerful- and willing to be bought off for a C-note- if they were randomly stopped and asked to prove their legality?

The AZ bill follows the federal immigration law almost exactly. One that has been on the books since 1965 and yet I've never seen you take exception to it once.
