Re: This will have great appeal to slightly more than half the U.S. populace
I'm sure you find this hilarious.
Along with everything else, the right has a shit sense of humor.

Re: This will have great appeal to slightly more than half the U.S. populace
Didn't cash for clunkers work?
-
Re: This will have great appeal to slightly more than half the U.S. populace
How could it?
C4C was an Obama administration idea, therefore not only suspect but automatically assumed to have failed.

Well, in hindsight, wouldn't you agree that C4C sort of missed its target? I'm sure Toyota was very happy with it though.

Re: This will have great appeal to slightly more than half the U.S. populace
"Missed it's target" in the sense that people didn't flock to GM products to replace their SUVs?

Yes. Instead, american tax dollars was spent on bolstering the sales of japanese brands. Also, I'm not totally convinced about the environmental benefits in scrapping functioning vehicles and replacing them with new ones just for the sake of a few more mpg.
-
Re: This will have great appeal to slightly more than half the U.S. populace
Don't they manufacture most of the US market cars in the USA even if the company is Japanese?
Wasn't the idea to save American jobs? And if the American jobs are supplied by foreign companies isn't that still in our interests?
-
Re: This will have great appeal to slightly more than half the U.S. populace
C4C was a multipronged program, aimed at reducing the number of inefficient cars, stimulating the economy and (hopefully) increasing the business of American carmakers.
It's not Obama's fault that many people refused to buy the inferior American products and opted for a (titular) Japanese car instead.
Kevin doesn't like it because it didn't reduce the tax "burden" on the wealthy which is the only strategy the right finds worthwhile.
-
Re: This will have great appeal to slightly more than half the U.S. populace
I have found it laughable that so many people believe the only way an economy is "healthy" is through manufacturing. It was a huge boom in the past century, but let's not forget sales, repair, parts, training, fuel, insurance, and marketing in the equation. These are all part of the economy, and were benefited by C4C.

So true.
It'd be interesting to know which poll j2 is looking at and what questions they asked to arrive at this conclusion.
-
Re: This will have great appeal to slightly more than half the U.S. populace
I don't need no stinking poll, and that's a fact.
-
Re: This will have great appeal to slightly more than half the U.S. populace
Of course not.
Much simpler to just make stuff up.
A stunning example of which is the right's economic policy.
Good for you.

173 miles from Eagar to Albuquerque. That's less than it takes to get from Eagar to Phoenix.

Yeah, Highway 60. There are hardly any cops on it. You can almost go as fast as you want without having to worry about getting pulled over.

You can't race on a highway, kid.
Any real racetracks- not dragstrips- in the area?
