I would say youtube converters are the best for people who are new to filesharing and generally don't care about quality. No viruses, good speed, more content :)

My advice, drop Limewire and use Mulve while it still lasts. It's better in every aspect.

If you still want to go down the Gnutella network path I would suggest Cabos

Soulseek is great, it helped me lay my foundation for the bigger things that laid ahead. I don't really use it now though.

I would say depending on your music taste find a forum or blog that specializes in just that genre. Example I listen to alot of rap so I go to rapvault.net and chetmart.blogspot.com just to name a few. One click hoster sites with much better quality than limewire plus u get the full cd and keep only what u want.
