BCG problem.

Hello all, I just made an account here today to try and get some help.

I've been a member of BCG since June of 2009. Up until about a week ago, I always used my house internet/comp to do all the downloading and uploading. Then I started reading up on Seedboxes and how they work, etc. I decided to try one out for a month. I finally looked around and ended up with Feral Hosting.

Just today after having the seedbox for about a week, I got banned. I was browsing through BC like I normally do, when it logged me out. So, I log back in as usual, but this time I get a 403 Error saying "Unauthorized IP address".

I looked around Google to find the BCG IRC channel. I got on and went to the help channel.

Now, here is what I'm not understanding. I explained my situation and what was happening. One of the mods was very nice, and told me I should talk to Cirno when he gets on. The other mod, wasn't so nice, even accused me of having more than one account (Although, in his defense, he said he had confused me with someone else).

The "reason" for being banned I received from said mod was, " your seed box has an amazing ability to seed to no one, and at amazing speeds. "

At this point...I'm lost. I really had no idea what he was talking about. As far as I'm aware you can't seed something if it has no leechers. So, he says, "explain how your seedbox can seed at such high speeds to no one".

Again, I have no idea how to explain something I know nothing of and something I thought was not possible. I asked him to try and explain to me how that was possible. Maybe even point me in the direction of the torrent or torrents he was talking about. He said no...

So, my question is this. How can you seed something if there are no leechers? Might this be something my seedbox is doing?

I even offered to discontinue using my seedbox if this was something to do with it. I have no reason to "hack" or use anything for my ratio, as I was asked by one of the mods. My ratio has never been below 1.0 and has never been above 1.8x.

what he meant was , u are using some ratio MODS the punishment for which is instant IP ban.
in other words, since u used ratio MOD, your upload count got increased albeit instantly and at the same time, since u never really uploaded anything in practical so u seeded nothing .

I haven't used anything, no mods, no hacks, nothing. As I stated in my original post, the only thing I have been using is a seedbox. My ratio never increased "instantly". I had about 400+gb uploaded and 200gb+ downloaded on the tracker. I would go as far as letting Cirno log in to my seedbox to view what I have uploaded if he wishes. I have nothing to hide.

Well its your side of the story and I am no judge here. I just expressed what that mod might have thought.
btw, Its not your Total upload count thats checked. They might have checked some random torrents that u were seeding and thought u were reporting morphed upload data on that torrent. Your total upload wont weigh much against the accusation of using a RATIO MOD. anyways. gl ! BCG owner hangs arnd here. just wait for his/her reply :)

I see where you're coming from. Honestly though, it's a bummer. The whole reason I got a seedbox in the first place was to actually help out and actually seed at decent speeds. I was so happy when I fired up the first torrent on the seedbox and saw speeds of 2mbps upload speeds compared to my 25-50kbps I get at home.

Like I told the mod on IRC. What reason do I have of using any kind of hack? My ratio has never been lower than 1.0. In reality, If I were using some hack or ratio mod as you call it and got caught, I wouldn't ever bother trying to get my account back and just cut my losses. But really, when I haven't done anything and I still get banned, it just flat out sucks.

stoi, all I ask is if you can please look in to this. I tried talking to Cirno, but he hasn't been on when I've tried.

If there is any information you need, just let me know. Like I said, I would even let one of you guys log in to my seedbox and check whatever you need.

This is also my first time using a seedbox, but everything on my end looks to be okay. Whenever something was being uploaded there were always leechers.

If you really used any kind of cheating procedure, then nobody can save you, and if you really don't, ( which I doubt ) hen may be you are safe..

It's perfectly possible for xb350x to be flagged as a cheater if someone was ghostleeching on the same torrent he was seeding. I'd just wait for stoi to review his case.

I don't think that's relevant to this conversation. All that needs to be disclosed about it here is that it can cause false positives, as it'd appear it is xb350x's case.

If you want me to believe the rest of your story then unless you are the literal "one in a million" I suggest not including such obvious untruths . Unless of course by "helping out" you mean yourself.:mellow:

No offense like and just my opinion but if you merely wanted to "help" BCG then I think a donation to the tracker in the amount you spent on the seedbox would probably be of greater use.

Btw yes I know this doesn't have anything to do with anything be I get really irked by people pretending that they "put it on their box" for altruistic reasons.Just like they cross-seed or partial seed for the same reason no doubt.

Now back to the topic, I can think of 2 possiblities which might be true behind this ban:
1. Did he cross seed?? As if he does, I saw that in those case snatchlist wil go creazy..
2. Did he using some seedbox provider which is already banned in BCG??
3. OR, his passkey might be stolen by someone and that guy used abused his account in good way.

Firstly, that's not "two possibilities", it's three. :happy: Secondly:
1. that's a possibility, if he cross-seeded incorrectly. Reporting upload traffic without anyone leeching is a classic symptom of adding two or more tracker URLs to the same torrent, which is not how you do it.
2. I don't think so, the seedbox's IP wouldn't have been allowed to leech/seed in the first place, otherwise.
3. Possible, though I wouldn't call getting him banned "abusing his account in a good way".

Here it comes another possiblity.. ;) I saw many people use that without even knowing the utility of it. But considering his account age in bcg I can say he is familier enough with bittorrent to avoid this simple mistake.

Considering pretty much every tracker enforces the "Private" flag on torrents, that's a non-issue. Unless you're using uTorrent 1.7.1 or something :lol:

I can't really say anything else in my defense. I've already said everything I know, I even asked for some advice as to what it could have been that got me banned according to the mods "reason".

What really irks me is that fact that people always assume you're guilty. But, after all, this is the internet. I'm not here to convince anyone I didn't do anything. I myself know I didn't and that's enough for me and my conscience.

If I don't get unbanned, I'll just have to hopefully find another tracker. What I do want, is for this not to happen to anyone else. Maybe have the mods do a bit of research as to what happened or how it could of happened so another user doesn't get automatically accused of doing something they haven't.

As to your questions, if by cross seeding you mean uploading a torrent to two different trackers, then no. The only tracker I use is BCG.

The seedbox question, I don't know about. I looked over the forums before getting the seedbox and saw nothing related to any seedbox being banned.

I'm the only one that knows my password. Any password, really. Not even my wife knows them.

..and I really have no idea what DHT and PEX are, so that's out of the question.

I have a question, not sure if it has anything to do with the problem the mod mentioned. The first day I started up the seedbox, I went into settings and where it says "IP/Hostname to report to tracker:", I put in my IP at the time. Apparently I never looked to see if I had a static IP or not, which I don't. Problem is, I never changed the IP in ruTorrent again since I've had it. Could it have been it was reporting the wrong IP to BCG?

I'm not accusing you of anything, but many, many of these "X disabled my account" threads end up with their starters being unmasked as traders, cheaters, sellers and the like. Specially when they claim it's for "no reason".

DHT (Distributed Hash Table) and PEX (Peer EXchange) are two mechanisms for your client to find peers besides the tracker. They aren't used in private torrents, so this is out of the question.

You shouldn't have done that, simply because it's not necessary. When you're using a seedbox, the seedbox's IP should get reported, not yours. However, 99% of trackers don't even honor the IP parameter, and it's definitely not something to get banned for.

I wasn't really referring to you, as you actually didn't come in to the thread automatically accusing me, as most people have done. Which, I appreciate.

I didn't even come in by stating it was for no reason. I posted the reason the mods gave me and came here trying to understand how something like that was possible.

There is really nothing else I can do, I tried to explain myself as best as possible. Hopefully it doesn't land on deaf ears, as I really, haven't done anything.

Nevertheless I want to thank you guys for trying to explain to me what someone else couldn't. Thank you.

It may not be your case, but 99% of the time in these situations you are guilty until proven guilty.
