u can buy an adaptor so it will run of the same supply as the hdd drives etc, rather than drawing more current throught the mobo. u can have as manys fans as you like.
My Asus board has two fan headers in addition to the HSF header.
I don't use them because the mobo wants to run the fans at max rpm all the time...
so u dont have ne case fan? or it there another way to connect the fan.
and can you link me to one of those adapter? cuz i hve no clue what it is.
oh and btw, the case i order have 2 front panel lights. Where would i plug the header for that?
KLR,
This is the fan adaptor you will need...

They are common as dirt, any computer store should have them.
What are the two lights on the front of your case for?
If they are the power supply indicator and HDD activity light, then there are very specific places that they will plug into your motherboard.
If they are just decorative lights on your case front you can plug them into any unused molexs from your PSU.
Edit: of course I have case fans. Out the ying yang in fact. I made my own fan control panel and am still screwing around with placement.
its a front panel neon light bars (just there to light up the front panel) lol but i look at my psu and i dotn see ne port.
and can u tell me what the adapter are called?
does ur case look like mine??, if it does, can u see the power cord at the lower right hand side of the pic...thats the plug-in that goes to the front panel lights
http://www.chinkii.com/uploads/album...er%20cords.JPG
like clocker said, the small lights in the front that show ur hdd activity and ur power connect into jumper lookin things like this
http://www.chinkii.com/uploads/album/misc/pins.JPG
sorry thats shit pic
yea look exactly like urs but its whitish (word?) color. the lights im talking about are the 2 front panel light bar veritcly on the case front panel.....the light bar on ur case.
i can just pick out random ones that fit right?
i dotn have my mobo yet so if i plug it into the thing will it still light up?
Isn't it a bit early to be putting up Christmas decorations?
http://www.chinkii.com/uploads/album...er%20cords.JPG
the lights in the front are connected like that right (circled)
haha clocker
which cable is that? does it have ne lables?
that goes to ur front lights, the ones that change colors
i have four lines
one lable power switch
one lable reset switch
one lable hdd led
one split into two header and one has a "+" and one has a "-"
It should be fairly obvious.Quote:

There simply aren't that many different types of connectors coming out of your PSU.
this is my first case w/ the light things so i have no clue... yes....i am a moron :( *go sit in corner*
wat kind of motherboard do u have?
I didn't call you a moron.
But I'm tempted now.
If this is a new case didn't it come with a manual?
Or the proverbial bag 'o parts?
If the PSU doesn't have a specific connector for those lights then there is probably a adaptor that plugs into a Molex connector.
yes there is, my pc had one, its not hard to plug shit in
no my case didnt come w/ a manual at all :(
mine didnt either, but its not hard to match plug-ins....did the mobo come wit one?
Okay.
How about a box/bag of parts?
Where are your lights plugged in Capt. Swallow?Quote:

Surely not the motherboard?
okay i know u guys are going to kill me for asking this but, do u need the motherboard for the light to work?
the bag came w/ scres and thing to screw in the mobo only.
no, the lights came wit a cord like the one u posted
uhhh which cord .....the "+" and "-' one?
That seems sorta cheesy.Quote:

I suppose you'll just have to toddle down to CompUSA (or your local equivalent) and get a adaptor.
BTW, I'd be royally pissed if I bought a case with lights and they didn't provide any way to hook 'em up...
Huh?Quote:

after looking at my pc for a few, i relized wat his problem is...giveme a second clocker and i post a pic..
That seems sorta cheesy.Quote:

*clockers info*ok, after examing my pc, i come to relized that our cases have front usb2 and audio....
pic...
http://www.chinkii.com/uploads/album/guys/audio.JPG
but i took mine out cuz i dont not use front usb and such (have a hub, and the pins are to confusing for mine)
this is wat the usb and audio thing looks like...
http://www.chinkii.com/uploads/album/guys/usb.JPG
and on the other end of that is jumper looking things like this...
http://www.chinkii.com/uploads/album/IMC/jumpers.JPG
then those jumper pin things plug into the mobo in places like here
http://www.chinkii.com/uploads/album...0on%20mobo.JPG
I don't think so.Quote:

Let's just wait till he posts his picture.
I see from the pictures that we are all FUBAR now.
Those lights almost certainly plug into the PSU harness through a standard molex adaptor.
All that other bushwah (USB ,audio,HDD activity etc.) should be covered in the manual for your motherboard.
Please Jesus, tell us that you have a manual for your mobo... :o
http://www.chinkii.com/uploads/album/misc/molex.JPG
here we are ol chap
those blue and white wires with the plug goes into the front panel for the lights
Just as I suspected.
so what adapter do i need?
i nkow how to hook up those. i just dont know howt o get the fucekn light to light up. so if i dont have my mobo in (which i dont) i can still get teh front panel light to light up?Quote:

Just tell the poor unfortunate who has to wait on you that you need an adaptor to plug a fan into a molex connector.
Your lights have exactly the same connector as a fan does.
okay so the connector i have for my front panels light bar look like this but w/ only the 2 pins circle in the pic.
http://server2.uploadit.org/files/08...;asdl;fasd.GIF
so i would use this to connect it to the molex right?
http://server2.uploadit.org/files/08...iiiiiiiiii.GIF
p.s. @clocker im sry if i was being an idiot but this is my first time w/ a case w/ front panel light bars. i wouldnt have ne problem if the connector actually fited but like u siad, i need a adapter. and until now i dotn even know what a apdater for the molex is. so ty for all ur help and sry for the trouble.
u need the one in my reply!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
