52x Burner

I am getting a 52x burner in like an hour and I am wondering at what speed can I burn a cd if the cd is 16x Multispeed. ?

16x cd, the max you can burn on one of them is 16x!

dude did you see this show mythbusters? they used this cd drive and the drive was so fast that the cd disenigrated

What does the Multispeed mean then ?

ur burner does multispeed, like...

4x
6x
8x
12x
16x ect...

huh!

n00bs....it means you can select your write speeds, like instead of always 52x

multispeed means you can theoretically burn in increments up to the maximum...as has been said here, you don't need to burn at 16x, you can do 1, 2, 4, 8 etc...


you should be able to go faster than 16x though, depending on the disc

i've burned a few 12x discs at 32x with no errors

yep, that sounds about right

sometimes there is a margin of error (actually, most times) built into the disc.
it will normally burn fine a couple of speed levels higher than it&#39;s rated at.

give it a try if you&#39;ve got an old cd-r lying about

try burning a 12x cd-r at 32 or 48x, it might work

nah i mean like, when u put a 12x cd in, i canonly choose to burn it at 12x.

Sorry for sounding like a n00b but how do you force it and can you burn a cd rw faster too ??

i don&#39;t see what the difference between a 24x cd and a 52x cd is.... do the ones meant for slower speeds really like break if you use them too fast.
