Best mp3/media player

I started off using Itunes then switched to mediamonkey and then to winamp and now back to mediamonkey. Just wondering what your preference is? I think mediamonkey is the best for me because I like to browse by location and such. Winamp was pretty good but just kind of annoying. Itunes is just a complete headache and pain in the ass.

I use Winamp 2.95. It works and uses very little resources.

Foobar, nothing can beat it if you know how to configure it properly.

winamp is second best (if you ignore the irritating UI)

I thought i was the only one using that version :P

It's very very fast even on old hardware but i recently changed to foobar for the reason that it doesn't need additional plugins for flac and it shows the cover of the song .

Is there a way to show the cover with winamp classic ?

I prefer iTunes. On Mac side anyway. It isn't as great on Windows, but eh. That is the price you pay for owning a subpar Windows machine.

Another vote for the original Winamp. Close to 15 years old, it just does everything a music player needs to do, efficiently and without an excess of irritations.

I started off several years ago using Winamp, but I mostly use MediaMonkey now. It uses less resources, & works with iphone & ipod touch. Which is great, because I REALLY dislike itunes. Still have to sync with it occasionally though.

Anyone try Splash Lite video player it works really well with HD and blueray movies.

I tried that once, but it simply refused to work - it would crash right after startup, every time. I use Windows 7 x86.

Works good for me but I just tried it today. Its has some really good reviews. I have Windows 7 x64

Foobar2000. Nothing can compare to it.

I'm on the Foobar2000 train as well.
I've used Winamp, Helium, MediaMonkey and many others in the past. After trying Foobar for about 30 minutes, I have had no desire to look for anything else. That was months ago.

foobar for sure, but mediamonkey for reorganizing music. lets you sort by genre/tags and rewrite the metadata easily. Also organizes by folder, which is convenient.

The best media players are VLC media player and classic media player. The main advantage of using these software is both supports almost all media files like mp3,mp4, wma etc.

As for video PotPlayer is currently the best player.

Sadly, for some reason I couldn't manage to get the last one working in my desktop computer - it does however work flawlessly in my laptop :blink:

The player you mention are great for video , but if we are discussing for AUDIO,
"playing" a format and "Playing a format with Quality" is miles apart.

Foobar2000 is great but i wish the skinning procedure was easier . It takes some time in order to install a theme correctly

Other than that , is very fast and reliable piece of software

I sort of hate to admit it, but if you're on a mac iTunes is the best. Its not nearly as useful on a PC though, in that case I chose winamp.

OT: I plugged in a super old comp from my high school days (like 12 years ago) and really enjoyed looking at the HUNDREDS of ridiculous winamp skins I had way back in the day.

no clue its a question that needs answering properly thats for sure, right now i use clementine

i use vlc. it can play alost anything. video and audio and its fast :)

I think foobar is best mediaplayer

Media player Classic. You can make playlist files and make the program play the next song in the folder you are using.

I also use a Cowon media player that i plug into my speakers. Nice interface.
