What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
utorrent has been going downhill for while (packing adware, gaining bloat) and now they announced that it will become real crap soon (paid version, seriously?!), what is the best alternative that is lightweight and has good features?
EDIT: No Vuze (Azureus)

Re: What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
Vuze clearly had to be on those options.
It may not be lightweight, but is by a long shot the most complete and advanced client available on the market.
-
Re: What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
utorrent is becoming like Vuze and that is what I'm trying to avoid.

Halite would be my pick. Sadly, it hasn't been updated for a year now.
Is qBitTorrent any good? Never got around trying that one.

but unfortunately the private tracker sometime force us to use a particular client and it cant be ruled out utorrent is widely accepted, simply don't update it, stay back to anything but version 3.XX and any future

Re: What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
These BT client wars are so dumb.....
I run utorrent 2.2.1 on my home server computer, which is a 10 year old machine I trash picked last year.
I've never once seen it crash, gui is great, low resource usage, connection maxed, great internet management integration.
Really just download a legacy version and turn off update notices....

Re: What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
The same argument as above I use utorrent 1.8.4 on a 64bit windows system, it is stable, uses minimal system resources and is fast. I only slowly kickingly upgraded from 1.6.1 when all the 'fake' security holes were announced and most trackers refused to accept the client any more.

Re: What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
Deluge, I like that its cross platform and has a move storage feature that saves a lot of time.
-
Re: What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
+1 for an older version of uTorrent.
-
Re: What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
+2 for old uTorrent version. I haven't updated my client in a year now, and I've yet to have any problems on any tracker. The new version might go downhill, but older versions have not. And since uTorrent has been listed first on all the tracker FAQs of acceptable clients, I don't see it getting knocked off anytime soon.

Re: What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
i still using utorrent 1.8.5 17414, never have problem. not worried about paid version, definitely not going to use it anyway.i tried Vuze a while back, but running those on this laptop make me stress.why dont you just stay with older utorrent version?
-
Re: What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
Vuze in classic mode and all unused plugins turned off. The only thing that annoys me about it is when allocation a big torrent (or rechecking all torrents after some unexpected laptop shutdown) it uses 100% CPU to do that, leaving the laptop unusable for other stuff while it happens. uTorrent does the same thing.

yeah I'm still using utorrent 2.0.4... just trying to gather info about what is out there in case I am forced to change client. how is BitComet now? it used to be the best then I abandoned it for utorrent...

uTorrent without a doubt. Why? It's light weight and pretty much idiot-proof.

BitComet apparently never fully regained its lost reputation after the "DHT incident". Just check any well-known private trackers' allowed client list and it won't be there. It also has as much crap (Comet Passport and stuff) as the new uTorrent.

Re: What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
Forget to mention ugly interface.

I know they slow things down a bit. I just don't get why Vuze has to use all 100% cpu for it.

How could you miss uTorrent?

uTorrent is becoming crap lately, and so he's looking for alternatives. Had you read the first post, you'd have known this.

Re: What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
Deluge is best in a linux/osx setting but I have found it to be the best choice for windows at this point, with my media center...even though it's still a little buggy.
utorrent has yet to add useful features and Vuze is too heavy.
-
Re: What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
uTorrent 2.2.1 works best for me.
-
Re: What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
is there any client for windows that doesn't limit the rss update interval? or is there any way to tweak utorrent?
-
Re: What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
If 5 minutes is too much for you, consider using something like this.
-
Re: What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
My opinion uTorrent is best client. small and faster. utorrent rulez! lol
-
Re: What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
it may be getting a little bloated but it's still only about 624kb. im still sticking with it.
-
Re: What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
+1 for an older version of uTorrent, like 2.0.3
-
Re: What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
I'm on 2.2.1, and love it. Every other client I've tried is either bloated to hell and slow or has memory issues, or is not intuitive at all.
I'd never pay for it though or put up with any bundled software with it etc. So far there has not been any though, so whats the issue?

The first uTorrent was like 70KB :P

Fixed. If you're going to stick to an old trunk, at least use the latest release on it.
Anyone tried rTorrent on Windows?
-
Re: What is the best BitTorrent client for Windows?
For me- µTorrent -because is responsive, fast and can handle a large workload without choking, and also has support for multiple trackers, so you can download the same torrent from two or more trackers at once.
