I know what you mean.
With the default board settings, the pinned topics do take up too much of the page. I had suggested here that maybe the board defaults be changed, so that more topics were viewable per forum page, but i was shot down in flames by the oh so snotty somebody1234.
:)
My Controls"Options">Board Settings>Number of posts to show for each topic page & Number of topics to show for each forum page.
Have fun. :D
Thanks for that.Quote:

You have your opinions and I have mine. That doesn't make me snotty.
You're right. What makes you snotty is the condescending way in which you often present your opinions.Quote:

And you think that the way you presented your opinions in these last posts isn't snotty and condescending?
Listen, you have your opinions and I have mine so let's just leave it at that.

Now Now. :P
ANYWAYS... about the the actual topic... I agree, too many pins. I think veterans should get the ability to disable pins. Anyone with more than 300 posts maybe?
Maybe we should have a pinned section.
:)
and you think anybody would read that?Quote:

one problem with having too many pinned topics is that it means there's a lot for a the newbies (the people who need to read the stickies) to flick through
can't remember who came up with it last time but all pinned topics should just be linked to through sharedholder's Newbie FAQ
i demand a poll on the solution - add a little democracy to the place
i have to agree...make one section (the first one you come to) entirely read only, full of FAQ. make it clear in bold that ALL YOUR ANSWERS WILL BE HERE and people will look...well theyre more likely than they are to go through software world/about this forum/kazaa probs...just to get why they cant connect.
look around this section; it has by far the most Moved Threads. why is this? cos its at the top, so people see it more easily.
unpin all topics, make them read only, and move to their own section. :D
I agree it does seem very messy, but don't know what the solution is. :(
i like this idea - lay it out on a plate for the lazy buggersQuote:

I also have the same opinion. There should be a read-only section with all the 'Guides' and 'How To'.Quote:

Most of the filesharing forums have one of these sections and they don't even have the huge ammount of members and active users this board has.
Just because u put all of your answers are here doesn't mean they will look. It sounds like a good idea but the board is fine the way it is ;)
I have been to the suprnova board and just noticed that they have something like this, I think that looks pretty good and wouldnt be bad here either
have a look here and write what you think.
I think that that looks a great plan. The problem as i see it is that sometimes the correct place to post a question is a little ambiguous. It isn't always clear in which section a question should go, so people wont always see the pinned topics, cos they may go to the wrong forum to start with.Quote:

this thread should be pinned
A lot of the pinned topics could be watered down a bit and maybe combined. I dont think a lot of silly comments is gonna make any impression though on the Admins/Mods.
Maybe if some of these constructive ideas where treated more seriously, someone might just listen As it is, well, it's just a joke mostly.

It wouldnt make much sense to pin this thread as it doesnt hold any important information ;)
it would be more reasonable to talk about the idea of having a read only section for the stickys and guides
He was obviously kidding. <_<
i donno there doesn't seem to be that many to me is it so hard to scroll down?
Thats very true RF - which kinda brings me back to maybe there are a few too many stickies in some topics - Its getting a bit confusing with so many when one could easily combine one or two. I think honestly though that stickies shouldnt be added to - they IMHO should be guides and help on the main points of each forum topic - without the need for addition - thats what makes them so messy.Quote:

it would be nice if there was one help forum and all the guides were posted in there as pinned topics so the other ones can be cleaned up
I did not thought about it - I always thought pinned onesQuote:

are moreim portant - and if you unpin them they will disappear
in back of newer topics...
interesting.
