if i were u i wud go buy a better one...
300WATT is MINIMUM!
what could happen??
if its a high quality 300w psu, you shouldnt have too many problems, if i had poor disk writes/ constant rebooting id be worried
if you've got the money go buy a high quality psu, with dual fans
what do you mean by thatQuote:

if your computer restarts for no reason or you have problems with optical drives (cd-r, cd-rw, dvd-r etc)
also to your hard drive...Quote:

nope i don`t have those problems.....but I also only just built in the other HDD the rest of teh system has been working perfect since I have it
check your voltages also, if they are too low you could be havin silent problemsQuote:

how do I check them?? And what do you mean with silent problems
by using a program such as hmonitor or aida32, by silent problems, i mean problems that you dont know about!Quote:

by that prog it says core: +1.67 and it is red!? Otherwise everything is white and says differnt stuff
post all of your voltages please.....
+12.07 +5.13 Core:+1.67 I/O +3,26
your voltages seem ok, execept the one which you said was in red, ask someone who knows more about hardware, like virtualbody1234, he'll be able to tell you more
ok thx
The core voltage looks ok to me, perhaps the prog is not identifying your cpu correctly.
Your v core voltage is simply the power being supplied to your CPU. I believe that with an AMD chip the standard voltage varies between 1.50 and 1.75v.
Depending on which software you are using to gather this data, the warning level might be adjustable, and it may just be that your warning level is set too low.
The +1.67 volts for the CPU is fine for your Athlon XP.
If you want to be completely sure you can look at the OPN number on the CPU itself.
Look at the OPN number breakdown on page 7 here:
http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_ty...n_Rev07_ENG.pdf
The letter value you have for 'Operating Voltage (Nominal Core Voltage)' can be looked up on the chart on page 9 of that same document.
So everything should work perfect with my new HDD on my 300W psu !?
dude. i would go to ur local pc store, whereever, and sell ur current psu. then go to dealsonic.com or amamax.com
they have 500 watt psu's with dual fans for $20.
why? If it works with my 300W
Abu, I know you think your power supply is just great but you don't ever say that it's not a "true" 500 watts.
A simple test ( divulged after much wheedling and bourbon from my local guru) is just to listen to your fans at startup.
If your PSU is marginal, the fans will lag a bit when the PC boots up and then gain normal operating speed. Nothing dramatic mind you, but you would hear it. I don't have experience with a lot of different machines, but the theory sounds good....
ya thats a good tip clocker
but u realy doubt that a comp with only 2 HDs is haveing any troble with a 300w psu unless its bad 300w is pleanty unless u have a bunch of junk hooked up to like lights and a bunch of fans
i no, but is his a tru 300 watt? besides, 500 watt is 500 watt.Quote:

i have a comp with about what he has running off a 200 watt PSu from thermalltake, and the fans start up really fast, and then slow down...
get a new psu mate, as 300watt is the minimum you should be running a system with that spec of... if your getting one get atleast a decent 350watt oneQuote:

Sorry to inform you, abu, but you have been mislead. Not all 500watt power supplies are equal.
That a look at this article: Inadequate and Deceptive Product Labeling:

he did nt say the specks ?????
any way that dont mean nothing its just that the fans start in fast mode then when the comps gets a good reading of the heat it slows them down cus they dont need to run that fast
not say he isnt haveing problems just that this dont show a prob just cus the fans slow down
what are ur specks SciManAl cpu, how many hds, how many fans ?
not in those exact words but he did sayQuote:

meaning he has a similar spc pc to Majin! you have to assume stuff sometimes.....Quote:
i have a comp with about what he has
So it should hold it out, but it is saver to buy a better one.....
Im running everything in my signature, including another Hard Drive, a homemade LCD monitoring mod, and 2 case fans, with no problems at all on an Allied 300W Power Supply.
So I dont think You will have any problems.
