It definitely wasn't because I know stuff about telly or movies but in one of the episodes, Castiel said that he'd brought them back after they'd got themselves killed 'hundreds of times' because they were important. So. indefinitely.

Back to the mod question, I think it was because I've got dirt on Skizo.
