Whats a good action movie out right now?
Anything by Andy Sandberg.
Enders Game is good. Its scifi, action. Haven't seen Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit yet, but it is rated 6.6. There aren't too many actions out in theaters right now.
Safe (2012) with Jason Statham is good action movie
One of his better filums, IMO. I had grown a bit tired of seeing him do the same role (essentially), so I put off watching it for quite some time. had few viewing options one night, and was pleasantly surprised. Mostly him doing his same role, but the show had a feel-good vibe amongst the machismo. Wife liked it a lot, too.
Safe was/is horrible. I only say this because it's true.
Also it's not "out right now",Jesus be praised.
Also "not out right now" but as the OP isn't ever going to probably return to this thread,

Only it's not an action movie and if you are going to suggest one Steven Chow film it basically has to be Kung Fu Hustle.
"Action" meaning "movement", duh...
Enders Game was a good movie
Thor, the dark world is amazing, as is raze
I want to know-what do you mean by action? Just, movement????
Straight off the internet so it's got to be true.Quote:
Action film is a film genre in which one or more heroes are thrust into a series of challenges that typically include physical feats, extended fight scenes, violence, and frantic chases. Action films tend to feature a resourceful character struggling against incredible odds, which include life-threatening situations, a villain, or a pursuit which generally concludes in victory for the hero
It's not technically an action movie, but You're Next has plenty of great action moments.
Just watch Crank! Mega epic
The megaist!!!!!!!!!
Also epic in a comforting "no sense" sort of way that I'm pretty sure "epic" doesn't even begin to describe it.
So stuff like this I generally reserve my highest 10+/10 rating of awesomeness.
You know I had been avoiding watching this because the description..
"When a gang of masked, ax-wielding murderers descend upon the Davison family reunion, the hapless victims seem trapped... until an unlikely guest of the family proves to be the most talented killer of all"
..made it seem like just another forgettable low-budget spatter-fest directed towards the lowest common denominator but your post got me to change my mind and now I'm going to avoid it because you suggested it.:)
It's not really action but American Hustle 2013 is amazing movie I would advice all to watch, I really liked it.
It's not really a movie but I like songs by Otis Redding.I wouldadviceadvise anyone who isn't a spastic to listen to them.
I also like ice cream. Also not a movie but tasty nonetheless.
Haywire -- I really enjoyed this movie. Gina Carano as a female "James Bond" -esque character. Check out this movie sometime.
I've seen it several times and with each successive viewing the sense of how empty it actually is strengthens.Carano is great but not much else is ,especially how, owing to Soderbergh's direction, everything seems a tad off kilter.
So kinda both good and bad in being different.
Machete Kills, best death by helicopter scenes ever.
I still go back to First Blood as a great action movie. The reason for me that this was so good is that you got to see the motivations behind the main characters and why they were actually doing what they did, instead of being meat puppets randomly running around shooting anything that moves for no particular reason.
The series took a definite nosedive into meat puppet land with the next installments, but the first movie was a refreshingly different action movie, and one where you felt the emotions of, and identified with the characters.
Not even close,if only for the irony.

I hate to harp on about Jaws but it was just on TV and I re-watched it again and something that is oft overlooked in "action" movies is that what happens between the stunts is just as integral to the experience as when shit is blowing up.
Case in point

Wonderful how the scene changes from Quint and Hooper comically one-upping each other to one of abject horror.
Also notice how Spielberg chooses to keep Dreyfus in the frame but slowing fading into the background.
Things like that don't happen by chance.
T2 . :d
Luckily I didn't suffer a similar fate...........until now.
Also not that anyone cares, least of me or the OP who was only getting his 2 spam posts in, but
So good on most of the suggestions and taking the time to bother to read the original post eh.Quote:

heat (1995) , excellent film with Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Val Kilmer
if you dont mind going kind of old school, all the old jackie chan movies are pretty good, especially the police story series
Lone Wolf McQuade
If you had asked me 10 years ago I would have said yes as it basically made Spielberg's reputation. However I recently had occasion to rewatch it as it was on TV and I can say for a fact that it simply doesn't hold up.
Some people, not me,complain about Jaws being dated but Duel is vastly more so in both style and substance.
If taken as a segment of The Twilight Zone it would probably be OK but as a whole movie, way too archaic in a Coogan's Bluff, not so good sort of way.
OK it's still better than Lone Wolf McQuade but then you could say that about basically anything in comparison to any Chuck Norris movie.
Oh,and Duel isn't an Action movie. double
