Anyone also like black sails?
Yeah so far it seems like a really cool show. It feels like a tv version of assassin creed black flag. funny how they both started\came out within 3 months of each other.

No I think veovi may in fact have a point comparing this to Assassins Creed.
While watching it I got bored by what was happening onscreen so actually wandered off and started amusing myself by sneaking around and killing any of the characters I didn't like.
First episode was entertaining, now like 5 episodes in...I'm kinda getting bored already LOL
Well have to see how it goes the rest of the season. I do not like the cook, his character seems irrelevant.
seems good to me at the moment, but then again i do enjoy a good pirate
Season one is finally over, and so far I am really looking forward to the next. I really like the fact that it is not just "Yeah pirates! Swords and explosions!"; although, I have heard people complain about it for that very reason. I do admit it does feel a little slow paced sometimes, but it has yet to fail to hold my interest. It sort of feels like Game of Thrones meets Treasure Island.
There is suppose to be another pirate show in the works called Red Flag. It would be interesting some more good pirate works out there that is not more of the family friendly Caribbean affair. Which is certainly entertaining in its own right, but you can only have so much.

Game of Thrones with pirates was my thought after watching a few episodes. I'm only up to episode 5 though, I need to finish out the season. I've heard good things about the later episodes.
It gets pretty intense. I just wish there were more episodes though. But I am sure the second season will be a bit larger. The way the ship battles are done is just down right amazing. I would say this and True Detective are my two favourite new shows.
watching 6th episode... kinda dragging, maybe next few will be better
Starz tried something different from Spartacus but the bringer of rain is still the fucking best ! Da vincis demons is a great serie too

I started watching this, and was bored. I really really want to like this show. When I 1st heard about it, I was excited because it hasn't been done before. There's something missing that I can't put my finger on.
I think I have 3 eps left, we'll see I guess.
It was poorly cast and unwisely chose to deromanitize the ideal of being a pirate. Hard to like a swashbuckler that lacks swashbuckling.Quote:

Neil Cross is a writer capable of great things and once upon a time Malkovich was one of the finest actors around.

Unlike many other people, I never felt bored watching the show and enjoyed every single episode of it. This show is a nice combination of pirate politics and action/adventure.
I like Black Sails. Not the best show I've watched but it's ok.
Seen the two first episodes of Crossbones and I think Black Sails is much better.
Hope they will let Black Sails run for more seasons.

in fact it seems a if it is an extension of B.S. just a different house
on the street.
Wouldn't be awesome if HBO made a show about Pirates. Authentic and all. Can't believe how whole pirate scene is left aside despite its reach.
As for Black Sails, I do enjoy it, but it's not nothing revolutionary. Hoping that in season 2 there will be more sea action, not just island politics.
I only managed to watch 1st episode. This show is so unreal that I couldn't just watch it:
- women in the bar have beautiful teeth, white and shiny. really? In those times?
- swearing by the main woman character sounds just lame
- guy who gets to the ship as a trainee as a "babtism" gets laid by whores. really?
Not to say that's silly as fiction only needs to establish it's own particular version of reality and then adhere to it but syphilis infected one-toothed whores sounds like the kind of quality entertainment that only you and Meg would enjoy.

Just catching up on season1. So far i like it. Glad it got renewed for season 2.
I do actually enjoy the show thus far. Was surprised when it got picked up for a second season though. Seems when I like a show it gets cancelled.
