Summertime house temps?
The wife and I just ordered a nice 2 1/2 ton (don't know what that really means :idunno: ) air conditioner. We have already begun fighting over what temp we are going to keep the &%%##@ house.
Because of my medications, I sweat over 69F. She says she is "miserable at work all day" although she doesn't actually know the temp they keep things, she is "pretty sure" it if 69F. She wants the house to be 71F so that she isn't cold "like she is all winter"...
I just want to keep the %^*( house the same temp year round and be done with it. :frusty:
So, what temps do you find comfortable?
-
Re: Summertime house temps?
BTW, :emo:
However, I'd still like to know- especially if you have a spouse/gf/concubine/cuckold...

20 celcius is what we have ours set too. its a comfortable temp, not hot/not cold. seems to keep the wife happy enough too.

Jesus Christ ,you homosexuals are but one step removed from bubble boys.
I have my air conditioning perpetually set to "off" as the body has an amazing ability to acclimatize.
Never hot.,never cold, never truly fully alive you fucking pathetic excuses for human beings.
PS Fuck off.

Acclimate to sticky Florida first, then reassess your body's ability to find comfort. It's miserable here, where you find shade and your balls are still melting.

Celsius to Fahrenheit ... 20 = 68
I agree. I'll kick the wife and kids out if you are female and are willing to keep me in the lifestyle I've grown accustomed to. :naughty:
Well, that AND you learn how to spell "Celsius". And capitalize words in sentences. I realize I'm fighting against the tide here since you mention "wife" in your post, but there is the possibility you could be a lesbian. My complete lack of being judgmental is one of MANY fine points. :sly:
EDIT- Just noticed the number "74" in your user name. Assuming that's the year you were born, I'd be better off with either a hot daughter or grand daughter :shifty: who meets all the above criteria. Nude sample pics and income statements, please.

Young bicycling boys in Lycra melt his balls FAR more than the heat.

Concerned over your well being I put my crack team of semi-retarded monkeys on the case and they came to the conclusion that if you don't like the heat then you are stupid to live in Florida.
I would add "fuck off" at this point but I think it's already in the subtext.

I fucking hate it here, but a series of events has me tethered. As soon as that conclusion is reached, I'm moving to China, Japan, or Prague. If I can't find an opportunity in any of those places, then I'm going to become a homosexual and move to Novosibirk.

Sub 70 F inside temperatures turned out to be the best perk of divorce.
I keep the heat off when I'm in the colder parts of the world.

I also think heated seats is the worst option ever to be introduced to an automobile.

If you like China you could move to Markham which seems to be about the same thing but with Health Care. :)
I hope that doesn't come off as racist as it's meant.

I almost moved to Toronto in 2005, which is when I was there. Shit just didn't pan out. I fucking loved Toronto, though. The ex and I had Greek hosts, so that could have contributed.
If you meant to say Arkham, fuck your DC universe.

Re: Summertime house temps?
Air conditioning is an affront. I fucking hate it. Makes my lungs dry, and causes me to cough.
Don't do it MBM. You'll add to the misery of Global Warming, especially if you set it to 71 degrees F(ahrenheit).

I would have thought being 'sticky' in Florida would rank down the list of minuses of living there, behind being shot to death for listening to loud music in a gas station, or death for txting your daughter while watching the previews at a movie theater.

Growing up in Texas, we go by the 68 F in the winter and 72 in the summer "rule". I am most comfortable at 72 as (even though I can break out in a cold sweat in 50 degrees just by thinking)...

Strange that you heard about that story. I was at that very theater a week before, mostly to sample the experience. You can sit in a spacious semi private balcony, order food and beer, and get in popcorn vs. bullet fights.

Not really strange that I heard about the story, I'm deeply fascinated (aghast) by the stand your ground laws in some American states which allow people to execute unarmed people they are having an argument with because they feel 'threatened'. The common theme in both the cinema shooting and the loud music case is that the shooter instigated the argument then finished it with gunfire.
The thing that amazes me about the cinema shooting is that the shooter had just finished a txt 3 minutes before, but that isn't as nutty as taking a gun to a movie theater in the first place, especially since it is a prohibited item in the complex, something that Curtis Reeves as both a retired police officer and an ex security specialist would have known all to well. His response to having popcorn flung at him was to fire his handgun, a response any sane man would do when attacked by a deadly cereal.
The loud music case is equally puzzling since if Michael Dunn was in imminent danger why did he continue to empty his clip into a fleeing vehicle, spraying a total of 10 shots randomly around the neighbourhood, killing one young man and narrowly missing 3 others because they were listening to loud rap music.
In response to how I heard about it, it was a news article about Hilary Clinton's view on the gun culture in the U.S. and the stand your ground laws in which she referenced some recent cases.
As a gun owner myself, I tend to shoot things I want to eat, or an animal in chronic pain. :idunno:

Stand your ground is the natural progression of the gun culture we've developed. Do you know why we shoot each other here? It's because the stakes have become too high for a simple ass kicking. You can be jailed for assault for spitting on someone. Homo sapiens expect retribution for grievances, and sometimes it only calls for an ass beating. The buy in is so large for that ass beating that you might as well go for full satisfaction, murder.
As is this culture escalated, it has gotten to the point that you can reasonably assume everyone is armed. This only adds to aforementioned buy in.
In general, this country is filled with overpoliced pussies. These occurrences do not shock me or hold my interest, I have seen the American being, and they have grown many grotesque features.

Texan and full time, life-long air conditioning user here. This is pretty accurate. 70-72 is great in the summer. Although, since our AC's run 24 hours a day, every degree you can raise it and still be comfortable, you'll find very noticeable on your monthly bill. If you're comfy at 75, you can prob save $100+/month on your electric bill for 8 months a year.
The heater use in the winter varies day to day. It might be 35 degrees on January 1 or 75 on January 2nd. Though usually whatever it is outside is what it's going to be for the rest of the day. The humidity holds the temperature so well, Texas rarely has any rapid temperature changes.
Side note: I grew up with an old box fan in my room to help keep cool at night. To this day I still have a Pavlovian response to those things. Once and a while when the AC goes out at work, the maintenance guys will put those things in the offices and I cannot for the life of me stay awake when one of those is humming in the same room.

It boggles my mind. What also boggles my mind is when it drops just below 60 F, these freaks put on winter parkas and still wear sandals.
I think I meant flip flops but I honestly don't care to know the difference.

Hot weather outside. Good. Same hot weather inside. Terrible.
I can be outside in 100 degrees and humidity just fine, but put me indoors in that weather or in a car without AC is just insane. It's so hot and stuffy you can hardly breathe. You cook in that shit.
The biggest plus to the hot weather is the warm summer nights. I like 80 and low humidity as much as the next guy, but it all goes to shit when you can't sit outside at night in shorts, flops, and tshirt because it's now 50 degrees and you need a pullover. I'll take an 80 degree evening with a cold beer or rita any day.

You're one of the cold-blooded freaks, lizard. When you're outside at night, do you also have to bury yourself in the sand if you forget your sweater?
Myself, I've got all of these muscles constantly outputting BTUs (joules for you SI nuts), and I wish I came pre-installed with a radiator. I am always a local heat source. Think Universal Soldier.
Perfect temperatures occur for me when water freezes, then I can finally wear the clothing I prefer. I own 5 pairs of shorts despite the fact that I hate shorts. Necessity.

Re: Summertime house temps?
I'm not that sensitive to the cold really, I just love being warm. You just can't beat minimal clothing. Hot weather is what I know.
I've been in Colorado now for 2 winters and I haven't even bought a good jacket. I'm fine just doing the pullover thing. It's the natives here that can't handle the cold. Slightest hint of cool weather and the big puffy jackets come out. Walk into a restaurant and its 80 degrees with the heater blowing full blast. I've even been sitting at a table here and just walked out because it was so hot.
The heat in Texas can be a bit much sometimes, but I'll take 8 months of summer over 8 months of winter. And let's be real, the "seasons" everyone brags about here are bullshit. The spring and fall here are just a Texas winter.
