Jenifer Lawrence says no.

Although there is some indication that the individuals who were hacked were done so through the passwords on their phones. Still not wise to hand off control of anything you want kept private.
My doctor's office was hit, as well as at least one of the major retailers I shop at. I wouldn't expect "The Cloud" to be any more secure than either of those...
In Jenifer's defense, she was obviously too busy taking an abundance of skanky pictures to find the time to think about security.
As for cloud storage,I'm not technically a scientist but I pretty sure that their density precludes you being able to set anything on them.
I imagine things will get slightly less secure when people who can't afford to pay their heating bills start storing server farms in their meth labs. http://www.slate.com/blogs/future_te...from_them.html
It's safe unless you're Kim Kardashian. I don't think any hacker wants to see pictures of my hairy potato.
Listen to what anon says.
Even in India 2,3 companies have suffered because of this kind of hit. Should find for an alternative like basefolder. Have you ever used basefolder?
Define 'safe'. Safe as in being able to keep private (then encryption, both of the files AND the transmission used, with an industrial/military KNOWN grade system, i.e., Winrar) and/or 'safe' as in in the continent the cloud is on gets wacked by a meteor/comet/tsunami/whatever (then find a provider that mirrors the data 'automatically' in/on multiple continents/countries.
I have tons of data on multiple RAID array's backed up locally on BD25's (cheap) as well as in a 'public' cloud that spans several companies/entities that are on several continents and nations, attached by multi-encrypted links (SSL encapsulated by Ipsec/OpenVPN). Even though my current internet link is slow Docsis3/cable (compared to fiber to the home) it works.
Not when people who have made the effort to gain access to such data begin to sort through for what they want. A valid credit card with $1000 available on it is a worthy find. Pictures off your daughter's "private" sexting session equally of value, if that is what was being sought. Anything that can be traded, shared, or has cash value is susceptible.
Go check out a real amateur picture site and tell me all these girls are 'invisible' in a crowd...
I would always encrypt any files you upload to cloud as you never really know where they may end up...
There always potential risk of your cloud files being compromised. Best bet if you must use cloud storage is to encrypt the files.
I'm personally paranoid about putting certain data I have onto cloud storage lol
Fear of them seeing what I throw up there and realizing that not everything I have in their storage is a legal copy or such...
nothing is safe - we are all being watched :)
I personally use basefolder to store important files like office documents and other very important stuffs, Other unwanted (not really important) files i use to keep on cloud, basefolder has optional cloud storage too.
Yes...Its very safe
We need not keep our important documents in cloud storage.Always keep a backup of your data and one more thing is that we need to change our password regularly in order to be safe. The password should be strong.
I use Mega.nz for some things (very secure, with client side encryption). I use OneDrive for stuff that, if snooped, wouldn't wreck my world (no SSNs, credit info, etc). I use OneDrive as a destination for client side encrypted backups where I do care about security.
In general I would not trust cloud storage with anything private unless it uses client side encryption.
Cloud storage is safe and probably has plenty more people going towards this option after Apple One+ release to combine all of their services into a one low monthly plan.
There is no cloud, it's someone else's computer. ;)
The application or the cloud you are using to store may have access to your precious data
Can you share what all ways can you secure our soft copies of data
Use a NAS for sensitive stuff but if its open to the internet make sure you secure it with SSL at least.
No, it is not. It is as unsafe as any other online service.
Only as safe as the weakest link(s). The model assumes you trust the recipient.
depend i think on what u store, but so far mega is quite secure for me.
I think it as secure as the least unscrupulous admin.
Why would it not be safe?
This had to be posted at some point...
