Good stuff, thanks.

Re: FREE UseNet (NNTP) Access, 1100 days retention
If this will continue, it will revolutionize the entire usenet system but as we all know, awesome services come and go.
Take advantage of this while you can, it's not gonna last long.

Re: FREE UseNet (NNTP) Access, 1100 days retention
I have known about X4W for awhile but never shared because it may be shady. I would use at your own risk.
The free "shit" works. I haven't paid for Usenet in probably 3-4 years. :) They just take a little more work to use but worth the time and effort.

Re: FREE UseNet (NNTP) Access, 1100 days retention
Doesn't work . Could not connect
-
Re: FREE UseNet (NNTP) Access, 1100 days retention
Damn, give somethin for free and its gettin flooded with login, so there is "too many connections", anyway we are working on somewhat like daily login limits etc ...

You may want to change the password daily like Just4Today used to do, that way at least you'd stop excessive automatic downloads.

Re: FREE UseNet (NNTP) Access, 1100 days retention
thats the way we dont like it :D anyway if its be the only way we do it.

And is the cue you started 4 years ago finally completed ??(Just Kidding)
I tried a free one along time back (but always had paid Usenet), and it took forever for a files to complete....
Do you have any reliable ones that actually work today(seeing you don't pay for and Usenet provider) and have a little speedier download speed so you can watch the tv show on the same day it actually airs??? Not 3 days later??:whistling
PS. I assume you are more of a torrent down-loader now:idunno:

Don't know if you know but I made a tutorial awhile back here, http://filesharingtalk.com/threads/4...enet-4-f*r*e*e.
I sometimes get upwards of 35-40Mbps but normally it is 15-25Mbps, which is enough to watch a TV show the same night or even a movie. I do it all the time.

Re: FREE UseNet (NNTP) Access, 1100 days retention

Re: FREE UseNet (NNTP) Access, 1100 days retention

Re: FREE UseNet (NNTP) Access, 1100 days retention
You DO NOT know how to use UseNet ;) All works see both images, the settings are important.
Oh and to verify it works you can always check LIVE log on site -> https://usenet.x4w.co/

Still doesn't work . Used the same settings with the new password still nothing
-
Re: FREE UseNet (NNTP) Access, 1100 days retention
I got it to work after some trial and error. Use the second server given and enable SSL on 563.
Edit: I used a VPN to the Netherlands so I don't know if that made a difference. Trace route to both servers end up in France if anyone is interested.

Yes it does work with Altbinz (software i use), i get max 10Mb/s and i am in Canada.
As for its usefulness... if you couldn't get a file from your paid provider, and you wanted to try this , great...
But if you use this as your main source and call yourself a Usenet user.... well???....that i would have to say NO!!!!
But Zerodayo... it does work, and i can honestly say, if i have to use this for my main source of downloads :turned:
IF you have any others to try and see if they are better that would be great...
And if you are mainly a Torrent Down-loader this may come in handy, but not for a main source by any means, paying is the only way to go for reliable downloading on Usenet servers....
Thanks Anyway..
Shay:)

Re: FREE UseNet (NNTP) Access, 1100 days retention
Thanks ZEROdayO, I appreciate your efforts.
The server works well most of the time; occasionally nzbget ignores it for 10 seconds, probably connectivity or capacity related.
I'll certainly use it as one of my fill servers.

How you can compare FREE with PAID usenent? Dont i mention in first post - Have you heard about Usenet but never tried it? x4w Usenet offers FREE LIFETIME... It is just for try, how we can compete to paid usenet acc.?
-
Re: FREE UseNet (NNTP) Access, 1100 days retention
I wish the password was static so I could use is as my main usenet server
-
Re: FREE UseNet (NNTP) Access, 1100 days retention
The question is which providers are you using unlimited accounts from to feed this? lol
-
Re: FREE UseNet (NNTP) Access, 1100 days retention
are the servers affected by DMCA?
-
Re: FREE UseNet (NNTP) Access, 1100 days retention

Sorry if i sounded Disrespectful ZEROdayO, that was not my intentions, I was just trying to say it is a great find for someone that relies more on torrents and wants to tinker with Usenet...
As for paid Usenet.... That is troublesome these days to find a provider that has reliable downloads:cry:
I have been trying out a new one that seems to be working amazing!!(offshore of course and not the cheapest), and it was recommended on another NZB site i belong to, other than a speed issue (fluctuates from 70-150Mb/s ), it has by far the best retention/completion of files i have seen in a long long time. so far with all the fast take-downs on the big Usenet providers, and even the last Offshore one i was using, this one blows it away and has still got them all(but i did have to do the odd repair that's it!!) And it is funny that i have never seen it advertised or rated anywhere, and if it wasn't for the owner of the NZB site recommending it, i never would have found it....
Again i thank you for the free find and i did add it to my Altbinz.....And again i apologize if i disrespected you in any way...

Re: FREE UseNet (NNTP) Access, 1100 days retention
Every time I refresh the page at the site, it gives me a different password so I have no idea what the new password is. Think that is why some people can't connect to it.

What is the difference between Donation or Paying/Subscribing??:idunno:
Wording??
-
Re: FREE UseNet (NNTP) Access, 1100 days retention
The difference IS that this usenet service we provide is free, and if you like what we do, as we provide ACCESS TO USENET FOR FREE, you can donate us, BUT ONLY IF YOU WANT, do i say somewhere pay us or subscribe? word differs!
-
Re: FREE UseNet (NNTP) Access, 1100 days retention
What's up with the ridiculously long password?

In most cases...
Free = minimum service?
Pay/Donate= all the bells and whistles?
If you offer a benefit people will pay:yup: I think that is called human nature:unsure:
Example... If you donate, a pass-code will be sent to you so you don't have to constantly change it :idunno:
And in most cases (like this site), if you want a payment, offer something for it. You got 136,411 members here how many donate or pay??
I would assume the ones that pay use this site as there main or secondary source:yup:
ZEROday0 ...I am not trying to start an argument or be a smart-ass !, If the product/service is good and a perk is added people will pay something....Human Nature:D
That would mean moneys to help run the servers/service right??(And you wouldn't get money from me unless you have something other than bitcoin;))
Regards
Shay
PS. I do think the service offered should be rewarded, and it is much appreciated:D(if i was in a pinch i would use it)

Re: FREE UseNet (NNTP) Access, 1100 days retention
To save a mistype or having to type out the whole password, follow these steps:
1. Open the password image in a new tab in Chrome.
2. Convert to PDF format and save
3. Goto http://www.onlineocr.net/ and upload the file
4. convert file to txt
5. Copy the output and paste in your news client (take out spaces after password if there are any)
6. Done
Note: Change 'O's to zeros and sometimes the 'f's get changed to 'c's. Double check it before copying.
