That's all we need here. :)
I wanted the scene following this, but very memorable introduction to it...

Re: Most Violent and Powerful Movie Scenes
I knew the scene based on your edit comment even before the vid loaded! Good stuff!!!
"It isn't safe. They're all dead. Keep moving." I need to see this full movie.

Re: Most Violent and Powerful Movie Scenes
Hoffman got me thinking of Little Big Man which got me thinking of this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hW4nTYNSEA
I literally can't watch this scene as his cries of "Don't hurt my mules"* is somehow too sad for words.
* At least that's how I remember it as see above "can't watch". Still unfortunately emblazoned on my mind.
Papillon's still better than both.It also has that Gregory Sierra scene I wish I could unwatch.
Btw I can't find clips of some of the scenes I'm thinking of like the sniper in The Dirty Dozen or the narrow escape in Bonnie and Clyde.
Plan B
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bozxgVQ9m0
So over the top that it lacks some of the emotional power of the other scenes.
Ulzana's Raid where the soldier tries to save the woman and her son and ends up having to shoot the woman and then himself in the head.
The Indian's still cut out his heart and play catch with it though, so there's that.

Sort of Forest Gump two decades before the fact.

The release of tension is so palatable that audiences spontaneously applauded at the end.
Sorry about the stupid inserted music which spoils it ( switch to this part way through https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCW9NsrV6VM:mellow:) but that's the only clip I could find that showed most of the entire scene.Kinda needs the five minutes previous to fully appreciate everything though.
And I win.I now drop the mic.
Now on to non-violent scenes involving puppies.:snooty:

I win the bet with myself as to whether or not some cretin would follow up my post with a Cujo clip.
You alone are excused though because Stephen King.

Given the site I expected passionless disinterest or maybe aloof indifference.

Re: Most Violent and Powerful Movie Scenes
Pretty good list.Better than most although in retrospect Enter the Dragon isn't anything to write home about. If you are going to include something form Bruce Lee then there are certainly better ones to pick from like when he fights Chuck Norris or from Fists of Fury when he fights the Russian.
Personally although otherwise from a kind of shit movie, I think this certainly deserves a place on the list for how well it's choreographed, how well it's shot, how in your face it is and certainly in terms of this thread for how violent it is.

Re: Most Violent and Powerful Movie Scenes
Stop. Hammer time...
As for the Bruce Lee scene, it still stands, and I would love to see what he could have become (which gives it a mystique). The parts that are incredible are owed to him alone. It is dated, for sure, but i think that is largely due to writers and directors not knowing what to do with him, or what could even be done in the genre. I would not give it the #1 spot as there are too many other great scenes now.

Re: Most Violent and Powerful Movie Scenes
This scene from Bone Tomahawk was brutal. I never imagined Kurt Russell in a movie like this, and when I started watching it I didn't expect it to end like it did. :noes:

When they killed John Wick's dog. John regains consciousness to find his dog(Daisy) had crawled up to him before its last breath

Re: Most Violent and Powerful Movie Scenes
I haven't really felt put off by a movie scene since I was a child. The only one that got me at that point was the opening scene of Robocop when the group of criminals have captured Murphy and execute him. The part with the hand and the immediate moment after that when he was walking around holding his hand made me skip that part of the movie for years. Now it has no effect on me but at the time whew.

Never seen Bone Tomahawk obviously.
Speaking of Brian De Palma, the power drill scene from Body Double.
Thought I was going to say the shower scene from Dressed to Kill didn't you.
