A good anti-virus already should scan all files that are created, accessed or modified on your computer.
a good AV will check every downloaded file!
Yes but I don't like the antivirus running in the background in auto-protect mode. I prefer to run it on every downloaded file. If this could be done automatically it would be easier. My download manager alredy got this feature.
I use norton antivirus.
im sure norton, uses a resident scanner, that checks all opened files/modified files :DQuote:

Yes, BUT in this way every read/create/modify operation would be slowed down. I want to run the antivirus ONCE only on DANGEROUS files (downloaded).
so are you saying that you have disabled the resident scanner in norton? as its enabled by default and everyone would reccomend you have a resident scanner, if your worried about resources, why the hell are you using norton anti-virus! go get avg if its resources your worried about :)Quote:

I use norton antivirus.
It's not really true norton check files opened for write when they got closed, and check application files when they loaded to the memory.
use norton antivirus.

paul made a scanner that uses the nod32 on demand scanner thats about it
and btw norton sucks.....
Just set the the AV to scan only new or modified files... so existing files wont be scanned when they are opened.
I think the answer to your question is, yes it is possible. The full version of Kazaa has a built in virus scanner but it sucks. From what I remember it slowed things down way too much.
If you don't like keeping NAV running all the time, just make sure you always right-click and select 'Scan with Norton' before you open any new file.
yes, it was called 'bullguard lite', k++ gets rid of all those uneeded dll'sQuote:

You're right buddy, you could use lesser system resources if your resident scanner is turned off.Quote:

I think that you can use the KL Extensions file organizer to do that ;)Quote:

KTool does that too.
That's exaclty what I'm doing right now. Would be easier if it is automatic.Quote:

Norton sucks, here it works fine.
Only McAfee sucks, but it is also good tool...
you ever had a virus to say that? go download pauls nod32 on demand scanner and that will prove if norton works or not...Quote:

yes (at least in theory), just go to KTool's File Organizer -> Options, then put the full path of the antivirus in the field "Execute this program/sound after download".
Have you tried it. Please be more specific. Is this automatic after d/loading. ThanksQuote:

yes, it is automatic if the file organizer is enabled. When a download is completed, KTool moves the file to a subfolder, then execute the specified program.
You can do the same using the internal File Organizer found in KL Extensions.
I'll try it buddy, thanks. Hope this will be successfulQuote:

It didn't work buddy, in fact the crack that I d/loaded is infected.
IMHO, keeping Auto-Protect enabled at all times is the only bullet-proof solution. No matter how much it may dry your resources (and normally it shouldn't affect them much, except if you have a really slow PC), it is always better to be safe than sorry.
I run Norton Internet Security (which has also the firewall part), and I have seen numerous threats saved before they did damage (malicious mail attachments, virulent d/ls, etc.). I would suggest everyone does the same.
