Is it possible for a button to be added for 4k posts (2160p (x265) added to 720p and 1080p for TV and Movie)? I've been just using the MISC one. Time to upgrade.
Thanks :)

Is it worth watching 4k videos if your monitor doesn't support 4k?
My monitor is a 32" 2560x1440 and 2160p videos do look real nice. I've only downloaded a couple since I watch videos on my TV, which is 1080p. Can't really tell the difference on my 55" TV ( I do sit 12 feet away). When I upgrade to a 4k TV, I'll probably start grabbing more 2160p downloads.
What were you doing up so late buddy, did you shit the bed:lol:
I can tell you from experience that there is a difference from 1080p vs 4k if you are comparing true full rips, but encoded ones that the size has shrunk down i didn't really see a difference...
One of my Plasma's blew up finally so i went out the other day and just bought a LG 4k 50" for my bedroom (had a 42" before huge difference in size!), but i am still tinkering with it to even get a picture that was as good as the much older one i had on the wall...
The big difference you really do see that is when you stand right next to the tv in picture quality, streaming a 4k movie, but once you do go back and i am about 20 feet away in bed, i agree my eyes don't see a difference:D
Now you have to decide how much space you want to waste on hard drive space being an average true rip is 50 to 100 gigs plus...
I download a few BD ones for action movies, but i haven't tried to stream them directly to the Smart 4k LG tv yet, and see if it can actually do it without shuddering/pixelating , I usually use a pivos streaming box to watch them, and yes i am wired not using wifi, all of my tv,s and my kids consoles are wired ;)
NZB Crew, are there enough true 4K rips to justify another category or could these be better placed under a different tag?
Do you have some good demo reels? 720/1080/4k? Like those demos from the TV manufacturers? I have some but they are pretty old.. Like having some of those for fun :)
There are a few 4K demos here: http://andytather.co.uk/Panda/VideoGalleryPage.aspx
Most private NZB indexers have a 4k section for movies. Some are starting for TVs too. I also would like to request like OP to add 4K section please.
I like this idea. Lots of 4k rips out there.
Thanks for the link
yes 4K
Pretty nice quality
Agreed, plus higher bit rate encoded videos will show less blurring on panning or fast moving shots in the video.

Just searched "4K" in the NZB section, found exactly five results. If we get more of these in the future, I'll ping RealitY to see if he can add a new category.
You're already doing a great job as it is ;)
I absolutely would love a 4K section!
4K is nice, but sometimes t he files are super big. I've found a few compressed using HEVC - much smaller, seem to be still higher rez than 1080P. How do people feel about those HEVC x265 files in 4K?
4k movies should be encoded in HEVC (x265), that is how they come on UHD BluRay and even WEB-DLs. Would not make sense to use AVC (x264). To be 4k (2160p) the resolution has to be higher than 1080p, duh. :) The movies will be 3840 x xxxx (2160 or 1600 usually). They are going to be pretty big if they are REMUX (untouched video). The re-encoded releases can be 1/2 to a 1/4 of the REMUX size. Size will depend on what audio is used (Atmos, DTS-HD MA, TrueHD, DTS, AC3) and if HDR or SDR.
+1 for the 4k/2160p section.
Not really but we need H.265 and 4K uses that encoding scheme. Only people about FST can modify the web site but they have been absent for eons.
I usually just go 1080p if I am watching it on my monitor. If on my projector then I go 4K.
might seem a silly question, but how good does the 4k look on a projector? i have an asus predator 1080 and its pretty good, but didnt know if it might be worth upgrading
Yep I would add it before the 4320Ps start showing up.
Is there any posts for 4k?
Feel free to post them yourself. I have neither time nor interest.
All you had to say was "YES" there are "LOTS" out there........Then wait for the response;)...
Just sounds more professional, considering your job title and all the income you make posting everything you do now, with so much appreciation
I would gladly do it myself, if i could get Idol's original fancy shinny stars and a bigger salary than you, considering they are bigger files and all.......
Just sayin my friend.........
PS. We spoke about hits on Star Wars and Trek, look at the other sites and look at the hits for Ray Donavan season opener;)
Blockbusters offered at 4k HDR would be appreciated more and more now that 4k HDR is pretty much the new standard. I watch most stuff through my PCs and Potplayer, but even some netflix stuff through the TV ( Samsung 4k HDR) like "the Expanse" in 4k HDR look pretty sweet. Figure if they can get it to stream and look good, we can hopefully introduce a new 4k HDR lower bitrate standard? Talking out my ass, but seems like it should be a thing soon doesn't it?
Still need a 4k category.
When it comes to TV/film 720p+ is fine for me. When it comes to games I have to run 4k. Blur in film = ok, blur in games = no thanks.
4k is the wat to go
Searched the NZB section for "2160p" and "4K", got 25 and 5 results respectively. Guess we can keep stuffing these under Misc for the time being...
