I'm wondering; how many members still use private bittorrent trackers since being on USENET?
i am not using usenet. I am using private torrents only because other people publish some torrents only on private sites. When using good VPN, i prefer public torrents.
I use both, you cannot find everything in one place. Services like netflix, spotify, iptv makes people download less than before. I think torrent will get a revival once some innovation comes in, as countries are trying to make the possible to block pages. You cannot kill an idea.
Public trackers cover my needs very well nowadays, but it's always good to keep your options open. ;)
BTN for TV, yify for movies, spotify/youtube for music. I'm sure I could get rid of BTN too if warez-bb wasn't down all the time.

As for "boring", that's too broad and subjective, but I don't see how being able to get stuff for free is boring?
Agree with everything you said. By boring I meant that you have to always download it before you can watch it. I live in India so I have a bandwidth cap plus I have limited speed so I have to wait till the download is complete before I can watch so I prefer streaming. Also I hate seeding and leaving the laptop on cause I tend to get distracted and so I flip utorrent constantly have to worry about whether the seed time or seed ratio has been met. Overall after streaming sites I prefer direct download sites like warez because you just download the file and forget about everything else, makes me wonder what the incentive is for uploaders on these warez sites besides a warm thank you.Quote:

Well, DDL forum uploaders have one well-known incentive. Check which file and image hosts they use the most, then check what their rewards and referral programs offer. If anything, I'm more puzzled about torrent uploaders, as profit opportunities from that are very limited or nonexistent (especially on public and semi-private places like TPB, Demonoid or RuTracker). I think those are way more likely to be the ones getting nothing but a "thank you".Quote:

Irrespective of motivation, though, at the end of the day they're putting free stuff for me to download, so I'm always grateful.
On private trackers uploader incentive could be to get invited to other sites or "high level" sites. What's the incentive for uploaders on piratebay or public trackers?Quote:

Well, the choices don't need to be mutually exclusive. Just make sure to either recreate your public torrents with a different info_hash or seed them from a separate client to avoid the infamous "add multiple announce URLs, get banned for apparent ratio cheating" situation. You never know which ones will stick around the longest... sometimes the answer will surprise you. ;)Quote:

I cross seed. I have no issues with it. I also tend to seed what i upload for as long as I can but then I have so much content I want to share that keeping a lot of it seeding on my laptop isn't possible.Quote:

Sure I know seedboxes are out there but nope. I'm just too old fashioned that way and won't spend money for that shit just to get stats. Cos that's all that seedboxes are good for IMHO.
Usenet... Uh no thanks. I'm ok with torrenting. It's been working for me for .... 6 years? Man I can't even remember. I haven't been torrenting as much as many other people here or on most private trackers but I've come to learn and understand quite a bit and it just works for me.

Well honestly why should I spend money to just earn stats? It's just does not make any sense for me to pay money for them because if you're doing it for the stats, ratio and bump in user classes then you're doing it wrong or atleast for the wrong reasons. Well thats my opinion anyway.Quote:

nCore is a great example of a small non-English tracker going big and international by merit alone. Same with FileList... maybe Linkomanija will be next? There's also RuTracker and Zamunda, but they were never small.

Got into private trackers only recently and stumbled onto this thread. Makes me feel like i missed the boat some 12 years back when it was quite easy to get into the current elite trackers. Such is life i guess. Mostly using secret cinema, avistaz and mam. Adding FL to it should cover all my needs i think.
