u know the little arrows on the shortcut icons on the desktop? well how do you get rid of them??
just put them in your bin.
That's all.
;)
TweakUI
Theres a tab in it that enables removal of those little shortcut arrows.
But don't go crazy tweaking too many other settings, because it can stuff up windows if you don't know what your doing.
Edit: typo
system mechanic will sort it out (now i want you to thank you to everyone that has helped you in the past.....)
 I don't think we should hold our breath!!Quote:

I always thank folks who help me out. It's just good manners. :P :DQuote:

Thanks for noticing, btw. ;)
~FunK_mOb~ Some folks just like plain icons without the shortcut arrows on them, I guess.

TweakUI>Explorer>shortcut.
Oh yeah, and thak you too.

EDIT:- Are you perhaps spamming camille? I thinks so. :(
Kunal and Unzi are right.
Why do you want to get rid off? You can't invoke a shortcut command on your desktop if you remove it.Quote:

Stop spamming and read the whole post please. :(
I read the whole post and I'm not spamming. I'm just suggesting what will happen to the desktop. OKQuote:

I know those arrows, like Kunal an Unzi said use Tweak UI or System Mechanic to eliminate those arrows.
Oh, i see what you're saying now! Sorry mate.
The little arrows are purely cosmetic, removing them won't stop the shortcut from working.
:)
Yes you can't stop them but you can't invoke a command by means of pressing Ctrl+Alt+"corresponding letter". I hope you got my point.Quote:

Why don't you try it LTJ?
Yeah, i see what you mean mate, sorry for misunderstanding you. I don't think many people use keyboard shortcuts that much any more though. I only know a few of them, but know there are loads.
I know a good way to annoy someone is Left Alt + Left Shift + Print Screen.
:)
Perhaps you could write the same points in only one post instead of making 4-5 and then saying ya what he said was right. :)
it does nothing :huh:Quote:

do u know any other good tweaks in this program cause im way 2 tired and dumb 2 figure out what they mean. i didnt even see the explorer>shortcut until u told me!lol
Make a backup for your registry first just incase u play with it:
Start the Registry Editor (regedit)
To Delete Is Shortcut Text:
Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ lnkfile
Delete the value IsShortcut
To Delete Array in Shortcuts:
Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ piffile
Delete the value IsShortcut
Restart.
Ofcourse TweakXP or any other tweaking programs do the same thing. They modify it for you. You can do it yourself too.

If you're just trying to remove the "shortcut to" from the name, just right click, go to rename, and delete it.
:lol:Quote:

So if you have hundred shortcuts you will do the same? and every one after this you create?
Obviously that is an obvious solution. The registry settings given here will make so that it wont add Shortcut To and the arrow in any shortcuts from now on.
No. I dont use any tweaking softwares. I tweak my own settings.Quote:

If you dont like editing registry and you are using TweakUI it shouldnt be that bad to find. See in Desktop Tweaks or Windows Tweaks if there is any option in that. In TweakXP i remember it used to be under Windows Tweaks.
meh, sorry, just giving an easy answer. I've just never run into that problem. The most shortcuts I use are the ones on the start menu (Don't start with "shortcut to..." to begin with), and about five on the desktop. Renaming five files really isn't that much work, so it's just never been a problem with me. I guess that solution just doesn't work for everyone.
No problem. :)
I know what you mean. Its easy to rename 5. I have around a whole different folder having about 30 shortcuts which i am using for some other purpose. This comes in handy like those situations. :)
thnks. i did it ur wayQuote:
