Lately on any D/L I've done, The Stand & Fatman I get no audio on any. I have never had this issue before, I have been struggling for some time now it seems something has changed likely on my part. Win 10, winrar 5.5, XtoDVD 5.0

MediaInfo will tell you whether the files have an audio stream at all and which codec it uses. In all likelihood they either use a codec your setup doesn't support or your media player's audio is being routed somewhere else (e.g. to an unplugged HDMI port) for whatever reason.
Also, I presume the downloads are complete (no missing articles or repaired if necessary).

Thank you for the help, I did find the problem after staring at my PC for way too many hours. The compression setting in ConvertXtoDVD was set at 0.. I'll give it another try when I find something I want to watch. I have been using VLC for many years and as it was said it works, and it works very well.
I hope 2021 is a Happy New Year for all.
Just curious, why are you using ConvertXtoDVD? Unless you have old hardware, having to transcode is the exception rather than the norm nowadays.
VLC is good, and its Android version is the best on that platform; mpv is too barebones and MX Player eats wakelocks like popcorn (yet I still use it :blushing:).

I'm using ConvertXtoDVD to convert .mkv then to burn a DVD. VLC has been my default player forever, as it was said it plays everything. I'm still wondering why it conflicted with playing the video after just running WinRAR on the download video... I can't blame anyone else since I'm the only one on this PC..

To me WinRar is just an extraction tool?? What does it have to do with burning DVD's ??
And not to get to technical, but you do understand that MKV is a type of file compression ??
What players are you trying to play that burnt Disk in?? What file formats does the player you are using play??
And maybe another question Usenet?? Torrents?? Usenet, are you using SABnzbd??

And i didn't see he/she was streaming at all??? I just thought PC was the only viewing equipment?? That is why i didn't understand and assume he/she was taking an MKV encode and then turning it into a burned DVD/ISO format, and then playing it in a DVD/Burner in a PC..
Just typing that out was a lot of work forget actually doing it:)..
And my understanding Winrar is an extraction program?? So today if you are using Usenet, the recommendation of using SABnzb would be a good thing......and then some sort of storage other than CD/DVD's?? Considering the reduced cost of Hard Drives today would be more economical...
Now i could understand some people may not want to change there stripes, and something they are used to doing, but wow we are talking many steps today could really make your life easier may be the way to go.....

I know in north America costs of flat screens have become very inexpensive??

"transcoding and burning to DVD is passé these days" Okay if you would explain this to me as I don't know what this means.. What should I be doing to view the video that I have downloaded in the .MKV format to view on my TV.. This would be new to me, I wouldn't know where to start..
Do you have a "smart TV"? If so, chances are you have a USB slot where you can plug in a USB stick and the TV should (in theory) recognize the video on that stick and play it directly from the USB stick.
If not, get a Firestick or Apple TV or a Roku or whatever and install a program like PLEX on it. Run a PLEX server on your PC or NAS and you can stream the movie from your server via wifi to your TV (more precise: to the Roku or Apple TV) and watch it on your TV. And if your TV is really smart, chances are it has a native PLEX app that you can install/run (Samsung, Vizio, etc have it).
The last time I burned a DVD was... I don't even remember. At least five years ago or so?

TV? Is is a smart tv meaning you can stream say netflix on it, or can surf the net, you can add an internet connection, or refer to Cabby's post.....
PC or Laptop?? Do they have HDMI connections.....Are you connected wired or wifi??
Blu ray or just a DVD player??

There are many different ways today, but most of them are simpler and may just use proffered software or programs , and the majority of them are all free...
Like i mentioned if you are using Usenet to download SABnzb is the preferred, program used today, and that does everything...
Click on the NZB- It will download it to a folder and extract is for you, so you will have the finished file...
The website will explain all the different setups step by step as well.....

I am traveling at this time and will not be back at my home base until the latter part of April, I will give the suggestion of " Run a PLEX server on your PC or NAS and you can stream the movie from your server via wifi to your TV " I have a smart TV at home but not at the present time, I now have a laptop, Firestick and a flat TV. Lots of help from all and I do welcome all the advice, I may have to continue this when I get back and try the idea out. It seems from all the imput I am indeed behind on my technology. Once again to all, thank you and stay safe...
If your TV has an HDMI input, just plug it to your laptop and use it as an external monitor. Audio can be routed through the same cable. It's the easiest way to skip the hassle of having to transcode and burn DVDs until you can catch up.
Personally, I just watch stuff in my laptop with headphones, easy peasy.
There is great advice here drawn from a lot of experience. If NAS severs and the like are just too much trouble for you, the simplest method, assuming you have a modern smart TV, is to get yourself an external HDD. They are cheap for the size of them these days. Transfer your whole collection onto it it and plug it into your tvs usb port. You will save yourself a ton of time and a small fortune on burnable media.
