Os's - Windows/linux/beos

it seems a lot of you have no idea what a decent OS is,
here's a brief summary of some OS's

Windows XP
* its windows 2000 stfu
* just in case you didn't see that, it windows 2000 stfu
* its purdier than the others

Windows 2000
* a more professional approach to windows 9x
* it doesn't seem to crash the same/as much as 9x's
* it looks like 98 or 95 *NOT* xp
* it runs on the same kernel as XP so like b4 stfu

Linux
* you can't use it
* no really you can't
* ok, if you wanna give it a try ask some1 else for help, use windows
* its not designed, ported, modified to suite any of us home users or humans alike

BeOS
* get real
* oh yes loads of software <_<
* hardware support is unreal :lol:
* did you know Be Inc. went bust and turned there back on it?

beos rocks baby even if its no longer maintained.

/me has to do a project on it so im using it alot at the mo any way.

yes, define rock? and who sets a project on beos? are you in fiji?

its a project to study an operating system and since we have become used to windows and linux beos seemed to be the next os on the list.

and rock means it does not cost me a penny. :)

i use, due to its practicallity and my work Windows 2003WE but at home i use XP Pro, used to use 2000 Adv. but surpassed with 2003

excellent a windows newbie.

how about you try a real os like freebsd

still i think windows 2000/xp is excellent for a home user and *nix/bsd is fantastic for a server or advanced home user.

and beos is as dead as the dodo.

yes i agree slightly with what your saying but how advanced can a home user be to need nix? what do most people do at home?

somebody who uses possible a http server. apache is for *nix really the windows version runs well but was never meant for that platform.

ftp, ssh and over services are alot easier to setup in linux then any windows system i have ever used.

and somebody who wants a compiler for nearly every language on their system instead of having to pay for them and having to set them up as an extra.

No, it&#39;s not Windows 2000 and it never will be.

They did take some of the best parts of windows 2000 and turned it into an all purpose/home/office/multimedia/small business/cash register/coke machine/microwave oven/popcorn maker- OS.

windows 2000 has no relation at all to win9x and never did. It&#39;s roots go back to the first NT version released with win3.1 .
It doesn&#39;t "run on the same kernel". It&#39;s "built on the NT kernel" .
They&#39;ve had more than enough time to fuck it up for XP.

It works just fine once you get over the XP hype and windows for dummies automation.

Again, it works fine. It&#39;s a very interesting OS actually. There is loads of software, you just won&#39;t find it looking in the new releases section ;)

Speaking of OS&#39;s that are no longer supported, this one is headed there soon. MS is well embarrassed with server 2003, and for good reason. Another year of beta testing wouldn&#39;t have saved this dog.

Oh, by the way, server 2003 is XP with everything turned off and IIS 6 built in. So STFU :)

I use a ZX Spectrum 128K and it work&#39;s fine for me, great graphics, great sound, play&#39;s DVD&#39;s and has only crashed twice in the last 10 years&#33; :lol: :D
