I would like to add here that I will have nothing to do with a console. For a start I have never been in prison and, as yet, not that way inclined. Despite what SG says. :lol:

You'll never get an accurate response to this question in a forum like this. The only one's qualified to give an opinion are those people who actually own all three consoles. Your best bet is to do the research for yourself. Go to objective websites like IGN and Gamespot and decide which console has the most games that appeal to your tastes. Then go to a store like Best Buy or Wal-Mart that has all three available to try, and see which controller feels the most comfortable to you and which games are the most fun to play.

id say ps2 or xbox. ive never tried xobox but it has similar games that p2s has. gamecube only has nintendo games ie zelda and mario and other games like that . if nintendo went and got deals w/ rockstar and other cool companies theyd recieve more money, but since rockstar is only with pc,xbox, and ps2, i dont think its gonna happen

I own all three consoles.
Get a Gamecube if you like it's exclusive games.
(Zelda, Resident Evil 0, remake, Pikmin, F-Zero, etc)
cons: almost no online, no dvd playback, cannot play burned games
Get a PS2 if you like it's exclusives.
(Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo, Castlevania, etc.)
No cost for most online play
Get a Xbox if you like it's exclusives.
(Halo, Doom 3, Otogi, Half Life 2, etc.) AND
Get a Xbox if you like games made for all three systems. (for better graphics, faster loads, save to disk, better sound, etc.)
(Splinter Cell, Metal Gear Solid Substance, Need For Speed Underground, Max Payne 2)
cons: online has annual fee, lacks the library of exclusive games the other 2 consoles have (makes it up by being choice on cross-platform games)
My GC library is the smallest.
My PS2 library is the biggest...........but not by much
My Xbox library is right behind it by about 2 games.
For instance, most recently the good cross platform games that came out, I bought all for Xbox.

Nice post, Busyman. You've summed up all three systems very nicely. I can't believe we're actually getting some intelligent, well thought out replies to this age-old question for a change, instead of the standard "PS2... period" or "Xbox sux" crap we usually see. That doesn't tell you anything.
