:o Ever wonder whats in a registry patch before you apply it? Sure you could right click it and open it in note pad, or you can apply this patch http://www.angelfire.lycos.com/realm2/bigt...nic/EditReg.reg and the next time you click on a reg patch it will automatically open in note pad for you.. Then in the future to apply a patch, right click it and select merge...Not really a time saver, but I thought it was kinda kewl...

In Windows 2000, there is a standard right-click option to edit the file.
Another tip: put a shortcut to Notepade.exe in the Send To folder.

lol here it is again but more explanation
FOR FASTER WEB PAGE LOADING:
This tweak will help web pages load faster, it has no real effect on download speeds, just helps your pc look up websites faster thereby speeding up how fast the page loads and making websurfing more enjoyable.
Navigate to this registry entry and change the following settings:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\ServiceProvider
On the right for ALL OS's change these entries: (ALL values are HEXIDECIMAL)
Class = 1
DnsPriority = 1
HostsPriority = 1
LocalPriority = 1
NetbtPriority = 1
To change the value right mouse click on the value and select modify and enter the values above once you have done all of them reboot to take effect and see how fast your pages load.

My os is win2k Connection by cable .I tried the suggestion as posted by computerfreak .Sad to say my speed went down by half. I used both cnet broadband meter and 2wire to verify. Revert back to my first settings, speed went up. The broadmeter confirmed it again. So the suggestion don't worked!!as far as my system is concerned. You will be surprised by my settings, it's not all 1. My setting:-
class...8
DNSPriority....2000
HostsPriority..........500
LocalPriority..............499
NetsPriority..................2001
All decimal settings. Try my settings it may works!! To test your inprovement used the meter to test before
and after changing the settings. It's not true that downloading does not inproved. On the contrary, dnl does
inproved by the changes made. Don't believe? Used systemmechanic to dnl a 1 meg file before and after, the
timing improved. Good luck!
