i think its .wav, but dont hold me to it. however i think it can read .mp3 files n extract it directly off the cd.... i'll have to try it out thou.
i was round at a friends and thats what got me interested he said they were mp3's and we looked in all the options for type of encoder etc, but found nothing but warning telling me copying xbox games was wrong.
I'm pretty sure it saves them as mp3 on the hard drive. However, it does not read audio from a CD-R.
you use a cd-rw thats it and it will copy
Mine does. :DQuote:

The early Xbox consoles weren't able to read CD-R's, but the new ones can.
DOES ANYONE EVER HEAR OF GOOGLE?
Mine does. :DQuote:

Really? I just got mine two months ago and I can't get it to rip songs from a CD-R. Do you need to have a mod chip? Are you talking about audio CD-R's, or a CD-R that has mp3's on it as data?
I got my Xbox a week ago. No mod chip, no nothing, just a regular Xbox from the store. It can read CD-R's, audio CD's, not MP3's on a CD as data. I can play/rip songs from it perfectly.Quote:

I think I just figured out why. Apparently there are three different drives, and of course I had to get the worst one. Just my luck.

k, here's how you can tell if your drive can read cdr's and the like:
press the big button on the xbox so the drive ejects, if it has 2 holes on both sides (opposite of each other) then it will read cdr's, it's version 1.3 (i think) of the xbox, earlier versions can't read cdr's and the like. i have 15 soundtracks on it already, all of em mp3's that i burnt onto cdr's, xbox is so freaking sweet! can't wait for halo2 and doom3 :D
since you have the disc tray out, why not just pop a cd-r in there to see if it wrok   :blink:Quote:
