Robert Fripp :)
For me, it has to be
Brian Setzer
He's using Gretsch guitars, usually Fender Bassman "the Blonde" amp and
Roland Space Echo.
And, he can play too. :)
Cheers:
-GS-
George Harrison (Beatles)
Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine)
Garry Moore - distinctive as a distinctly, distinct thing.
In a sink.
Joe Satriani (for reference try Surfing With The Alien - very Satrianiesque)
Anyone who loves guitar should also listen to Al DiMeola.
It is not for the faint hearted tho'.
Billy Corgan :)
What about
George Benson
Carlos Santana
Mark Knopler
Jimi Hendrix
All invented their own sound and you can tell its them the minute you hear them !
Those other suggestions do not compare to these 3.

Yngwie Malmsteen "Rising Force" "Trilogy"

Ace Frehley have a very special way of playing, never heard anyone, even cover-artists, who can get the same feel and edge to his solos
Toni Iommy also have a distinct sound, even though it sucks (the sound that is)
edit: Hey! I almost forgot - Ricthie Blackmore (no need to comment)
That jackoff is the worst guitarist since I found my brothers guitar and started plucking the strings on it making a bunch of horrable noise.(Note: Arm cannot play the guitar)Quote:

Charlie Hunter is a favorite of mine. He is a jazz guitarist and he plays a custom 8 string guitar. He can play the bass and guitar parts at the same time. He is a freak of nature.
why do people think the best guitarists are all the egomaniacal wank-meisters in ridiculous sunglasses who spend decades releasing solo albums that only appeal to legions of aspiring musos with dreams of someday becoming guitar gods...
... rather than the ones that play well as part of a band? there is something to be said for knowing when to let loose and when to reign it in & let the other band members do their thing. even pavarotti shuts up and lets other people sing, once in a while.
;) I know exactly who are you referring to. YNGWIE MALMSTEEN :PQuote:

Thats how neo-classical metal is. Some overrated guitarist just shows off. It reminds me of the guitar played from the movie School of Rock. If i'm thinking of the right movie that is.

Sorry to say, i happen to like some of Yngwies early playing. ;)
Far beyond the sun is well played song, his sound is unique,
might have something to do with scalloped neck and DiMarzio mics.
I like many guitar players. For many reasons.
But for Unique Sound, Yngwie has it,
Love it or Hate it you guys cant deny that.
Cheers:
-GS-
hell yea, finally someone mentions the guitar god. :01:Quote:

<_< Guitar gods are bullshit. Thats nothing more then then a guitar players ego running unchecked. You can be a shitty guitarist and still have entertaining music. Also being able to function together as a band is important too. :)
Guys guys guys... I think you're forgetting someone!! Or two actually!
James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett - METALLICA!!!! YEAH!!!
I can agree with that one, alltho yourQuote:

Let me hear what is one of your favorite
Unique Guitar Sounds?
Who is the Player you
think has a Unique Sound?
Or, are you just Trolling about?
Cheers:
-GS.
heres a few more:
stu hamm - bass player (awesome)
steve vai
alex skolnick - (back in the day with testament)
eric johnson
Ah Arm thinks every talented guitarist is unique. I pay attenction to the whole song not usually the guitar. And someone I think has a unique sound .................. .........
Timo Tolkki B) Hes from Stratovarius but has released 2 solo albums. One called "Classical Variations & Themes" which is sorta like the title suggests and and the other being pussy pop and is called "Hymn To Life." :P
Ok, here my point:
I like Stratovarious songs much more than
Yngwie Malmsteen's, Hell, i got all the albums from
both Artists, (those Tollki's Solo albums im gonna have to hunt down now, ty)
But, this thread is about Unique Guitar Sound,
and my vote goes to Yngwie on that.
Yes, Tolkki can play, so does Yngwie,
but Yngwie has more Unique sound.
Of course, this is my humble opinion.
Cheers:
-GS-
:) :) Thats a good boy Guitar Slinger. Have a hug: http://www.boomspeed.com/thissitesux/hug.gifQuote:

tom morello has to be the best ive ever heard , his sound is really good , really dont know anybody that sounds like him . i also like slash from guns n roses
what's about mr. slowhand? (you know: eric clapton)
and do you remember: chet atkins?
B)
Nuno from extreme has a good balance between flashiness and feeling. I know extreme did some crap but the last album they released before they split up was excellent.
Check out the acoustic instrumental "Midnight Express", playing that fast on a steel strung acoustic is just pure lunacy.
you wont be seeing that on OLGA for a few decades
Led Zepplin B)
unique guitar sound?
stanley jordan comes to mind. prolly too mellow for most, but you you can check out his technique at http://www.stanleyjordan.com/ and maybe download this to hear some amazing things!
keep rockin' slinger :D
for the sixties its peter green
,
for the seventies its mick ronson ,
for the eighties its mark knopfler,
for the nineties kurt cobain,
best overall guitarists of all time is eric clapton, slash, keith richards, george harrison,
best rhythm guitarist has to be john lennon, man he could keep a beat
Yngwie Malmsteen is amazing. He doesn't only screetch, he does classical guitar as well.
Arm's got fanboy syndrome.
:01: Fanboy? Fanboy to who? I'm only a fan not a fanboy. I just don't like Yngwies music because I would prefer something thats more then some asshole showing off on his guitar.Quote:

I always liked Walter Becker from Steely Dan, and Mark Knopfler from Dire Straits.
Roy Buchanan
Danny Gatton
Too many i love and like,
but the ones that pop up now are
Mark Knopfler
Carlos Santana
Brian setzer
guys wit their own sound B)
neil young & crazy horse. love the crazy horse albums or hate 'em, ya can't deny that the screeching noisy guitars were really unique for their time and they were a huge influence on grunge and alt-rock.
a few more good guys. :)
Jimi paige
slash
Eric clapton
