It is known as lucid dreaming and is a well known phenomenon.
There is at least one previous thread which discussed this. There may also have been tips / suggestions on how to reach this state.
I have been conscious during dreams on a number of occasions. I am sure others here have been as well.
I bought a book on Lucid Dreaming (by Stephen LaBerge) about 7 years ago and practiced everynight until eventually I could lucid dream whenever I wanted (well - about 80% of times) it was really cool and at one point I meditated in the dream and it went all fractally and trippy. After a year I eventually stopped trying as much until the point where I was just letting myself dream normally and being intrigued by that. I havn't tried in ages now.
I kept recieving junk mail frm the company I ordered the book from and saw that you can buy goggles that induce them too.
i find smoking 5lb of grass makes you lucid dream.

It's probably better to use the books though as then you learn the techniques and can do it anytime and become skilled in inducing it.

The goggles feck about with your REM. The important part of sleeping, I would advise against them. Certainly until reputable scientific studies have been made.Quote:

Your original method was much better. Congratulations on your dedication on learning and practicing it. Few peopl are willing to make the effort.
I tis really quite interesting but hard to do
I want to be able to lay down and think of a image in my head and just go into the dream it doesn't always work like that i have to be asleep and know I'm dreaming
i've had them a good few times. i wish i could choose which though. see other thread ;) :lol:

Reminds me a bit about the woman who went to her doctor and complained about a whistling noise coming from betwen her legs every time she walked. The doctor could not find anything wrong with her, so he sent her to a specialist. The specialist could not find anything wrong with her so he sent for a famous professor to examine her.

yea its cool when you can control your dreams, ya get to do anything. what i usually do to do this is i go to sleep on my right arm, so when i wake up its dead basically, and i set my alarm clock to very early in the morning, then when i wake up, i turn off the alarm clock and go to sleep normally (since im so tired i go to sleep in less than 5 seconds) but i still feel my arm all wierd and tingly so i am some what awake but am still sleeping, and i realize this and am able to control my dreams.
l had a graphics business a few years ago called Lucid Dreaming, l sold it to a mate.
The idea came from the Carlos Castanada books about Don Juan. One of the characters, Don Genaro, (another username of mine), demonstrated to Castenada his ability to not only control his dreams, but to travel with his dream body. It was whilst reading this that l started lucid dreaming, using the exercises in the books. You'd have to read the books to understand. :)

yeah i try to control it sometimes.but then again, most of the time, i can only see everything, but i can't really control what i'm doing....and the thing that pisses me off is that whenever i wake up , i get like this worn out feeling in my brain, then 10 minutes later, i try to think hard recalling what happened...and my mind goes blank....sometimes it's cool dreams too , but i can't remember anything.......damn it.....too bad i can't like bring a camera with me in my dreams so that i can record the shit....haha

I started to remember my dreams by writing them down on paper the second i woke up and then i started remembering them easily but i just could not have a lucid dream.
Once i must have rit down something and whent straight to bed because when i woke up in the morning, i forgot that i rit my dream down and when i read it, it was funny :D. This is what i rit down :lol:

I have accidently had lucid dreams many times but when i relize i am in my dream i wake up :angry:

its a natural supplement, its only "side effect" is lucid dreams
and ohh boy does it, problem: what happens when you multiply dreams 10x
well they are great most of the time, but along with the good dreams you have a bad one, well I woke up yelling once, really surreal. I stoped after that
but the good dreams or great, you can do anything you want, I enjoyed flying around one time.
hardest part is realizing your dreaming, they make these blind folds that blink when you hit rem but I never bought one :lol:
I've always been able to 'reset' my dreams. If something is happening that I don't like I just try it again. I could control where I started in the dream but I never really controlled what the next outcome would be. If I didn't like it I would just try again, but I never realized I was dreaming until recently. I had a dream that a girl who was kidnapped here was my best friends sister and I was helping look for her. I found her and I went to my friends place to give him the good news. He was making macaroni and cheese, there were macaroni and cheese boxes everywhere, and there was old macaroni and cheese in bowls laying around everywhere and there was mac and cheese all over the floor. Some got stuck in my sock and so I decided to leave and on my way out I looked around and I realized that this is my friends place at all, this is my grandma's house. That is when I knew I was dreaming, but then I realized I couldn't remember what was going on in the real world and woke myself up.
Last night I woke up and I had been lying on my arm like that. It was so weird, I could move my arm and hand but I couldn't feel it moving so that was useless. So I decided to use my other hand to pick up my dead hand and move the fingers and stuff to get blood going again, but I couldn't find it. I was sitting up feeling around my lap and around me and I just couldn't find it. When I finally did it was like holding a dead mans arm. My arm has fallen asleep before, but this by far the longest it ever lasted.Quote:
