get a hardware controller....it's kinda cheap nowadays..
Abu, get a fan controller as james_bond_rulez says.
I reccomend the Coolermaster Aerogate 2 because of its great features B)
Edit: Abu, speed fan isnt gonna work with that as the power comes from a 4pin molex, not via the motherboard
i c wat u mean. speedfan only works for 3 pin connectors. ok. maybe i should just rma this fan and get a quieter 1? i don't feel like spending $15-20 on a rheobus
You can get cheaper fan controllers then that :)
btw, if your getting another fan get a 120mm one - shifts more air at lower RPM (so its queiter)
120 mm fans don't fit on a sp94. besides, i just went on newegg and got this:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....talog=62&depa=1
wat do ya think? it's quiet, and it's powerful
All fans can fit on all heatsinks with converters ;)
That fans i no way near as effective as your 92mm fan - its ok, nothing special though
how much hotter will my cpu get with this fan?
Why don't you just get a 4pin to 3pin adapter?
Soemthing like this http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/pro...52&cPath=34_152
I dont know, but it will go upQuote:

Because you said its not 3pin, im taking it your Fan is connected through a molex connector.
In that case, why dont you just switch the position of the 12V and 5V leads, and run it at the 5V speed. You simply just take out the yellow and red wire ends from the molex connector for your fan, and switch their positions, so the 12V recieves 5V and the 5V recieves however much the fan is set up to recieve.
That solution is free.....
Oh and btw, the fan controller that was shown, the coolermaster one or whatever, is in that new 2700 Dollar Compaq Gaming machine, and it is pretty nice. Its 50 dollars at Comp USA alone though'
You could also try the 7volt trick.

oh shit!!! i just noticed that i bought a 80mm fan!! shit!!! how do i revert the order? shit!. i'm so stupid. arg....
so do those above methods damage the connector at all?
You don't need to disturb any connectors.
You can just make an adaptor that will convert a connected fan to run with 7 volts.

ha, easy 4 u to say. lol. i'll try. i might just sell my current fan and get a quieter one. but i have to say, i'm very impressed. i'm at 3.0, and i'm idling at 26C!!!!! and that's in 2 different temp reading progs too!! very impressive i would say. anyone want to point me towards some good 92mm fans that have power and not too much noise?
Vantec Stealths, and some of the Panflos are both good choices.Quote:

Wow abu, that's very impressive. Do you have any benchmarks to show us?
How about a 3dMark03 comparison URL?
i would have that already, but i just finally got my computer running. sory. u guys will have to wait a few more days. i'm still installing a lot of stuff.
the vantec stealths only go at 1700 something rpm. that's not a lot
how much higher will my temps get if i get a Vantec Stealth? i'm hooked by the quietness of the fan, but the power isn't that good
where can i get a good fan controller? i'm not talking bout those ones that hook up to ur from bay slots. i'm talking bout those wires that have a knob and u turn it. they should be really cheap rite?
While I'm not personally acquainted withe Vantec fans I do know that in general, you can't judge a fan's performance just by the RPM.Quote:

The number of blades, blade pitch and blade design make more difference than a simple RPM comparison.
ur also looking at 28cfm. doesn't anyone know of any good fan controllers that arn't that expensive? doesn't have to be one that goes in the 5.25 or 3.5 slot. just a wire with a knob.
so this will allow the mobo or speed fan to control its speed? in other words, the power will be coming from the mobo, and not from the 4pin molex?Quote:

Hey abu. Could you stop making multiple posts? Please use the http://filesharingtalk.com/style_images/1/p_edit.gif button if you need to add more information.
ok. damn. i'm so pissed. 1st my comp screws itself over, and now i ordered a wrong fan. i have to call newegg today b4 they ship. omg!
Why dont you go dig up my long post I did on making a potentiometer as a fan speed controller.........Quote:

Oh who am I kidding, the post is probably right below this one because I went and dug it up 2 secs after posting this.
EDIT: Crap, im so predictable

is it true that a tornado uses more power than the intel stock cooler? does that mean that if i get the 4pin to 3pin adapter, and connect it to the mobo, i'm taking power away from the mobo?
