Outpost firewall. Got lot's of plugins.
I like the Nortons myself, but a lot of people on the board don'tQuote:

I go with Sygate
Norton over reascts to much.
sygate
yay another firewall despute (going to happen)
sygate :)
Is ZoneAlarm not very good?
let me explain, i have zone alarm pro which is excellent i think? i mean how would i know if its doing a good job? anyway just recently i have added nortons anti virus (the anti virus program only) and i think there is now a conflict between my zone alarm pro and nortons anti virus, because my pc is slightly slower. BUT a few weeks ago there was this debate in this forum about firewalls- it was a test something to do with 'pc audit'? and only 3 firewalls passed the test and 1 of them was z/a pro but the other 2 i cant remember so im thinking if it was nortons then i could just have the full nortons security suite. i hope that clears things. does anyone know anything the test im referring to? (pc audit)
Sygate
Sygate.
damn, sygate seems to rock, but why is that??
It just does. :P It blocks outbound data better than the others, and it actually does its job good. Try running FireHole or PCAudit on it. :)
From the lack of actual reasoning by those proposing Sygate, I'd say just because it's cool to like it.Quote:

Sygate, ZA and Norton all have respected firewall solutions although the main gripe people have with Norton/Symantec products is that they eat into processor power as if that's on a tight budget with a 2Gig processor.
Personally I have NIS2003 installed and it seems to work fine but lots of people (almost everyone that installs it) has trouble setting up 2004.
Take some time to setup ZA properly and you'll be fine.
what are they for?Quote:

anyway...i prefer zone alarm pro than norton firewall...disappointed by it last time
i ran a firewall test on the norton firewall 2001 (i think) and i find out it doesn't have any damn stealth feature
however, i might try sygate someday, it seems to be everybody's favourite now :)
ive had norton firewall and zonealarm and tiny. but ive got sygate pro on my p.c and by the look of it it going to stay.i think it the best by far. :D
i use sygate myself except that ive got an older build going as i had probs with the latest one <_<
Started with ZoneAlarm because the university offered it on their website - I've grown used to it and it seems to be doing it's job.
Heard nothing but praise for Sygate (and not just here) , so the choice is yours.
Sygate is the best.
i will try sygate i think, does anyone know if it will cause any conflicts with norton anti virus?
Nope.Quote:
