Adam, you have become, as Dr. Phil might say, an "enabler".
It's on your head now. :P
Nice Guide Though!
Very Thurough(sp)
Very useful.
I'm just upgrading to XP2500 on A7N8X with DDR400 mem. So far I've OC'd to 11x182MHz (=2002MHz) but I seem to hit a wall above this point, although everything is totally stable at 182MHz base frequency.. This guide seems to indicate that I need to increase my core voltage.
Unfortunately I seem to have got one of the newer locked cores, so I can't change the multiplier. But I'm pretty sure that's not a problem anyway (at the moment). I'll leave it folding overnight before I try anything new. If necessary, I'll swap processors with a friend. He got one of the early XP2500 cpu's, but if anyone suggested anything other than standard settings he'd probably have a fit.
I cannot help it...Quote:

...but that guide explains several elements very well that are often skimmed over...
thx for the guide
i've become much clearer on the art of oc
Is oc really a good idea?
No, it's a terrible idea. You definately shouldn't do it.

One thing that guide has overlooked - make sure you have the latest bios version.
Now running XP2500 at 2200MHz (XP3200 equivalent) and so far it seems stable.
Just need to watch the temps though, currently 20C Mobo, 49C cpu (full load) with stock HSF. As long as it stays like that I'm not too worried, though I'll try another HSF to see if that helps.
I'm going to get some more ram next pay day and give my newish soltek a stretch.I wasnt going to bother with this one ,just leave it and get things done.I have a northbridge cooler coming soon ,so that i'll help. :)
Shes pretty cool anyway ,thats near enough full load. The encode has been running afew hours. This babys gonna go abit i think.

man, GIFs are crap quality, use jpeg next time...but those temps are good, you should be able to voerclock pretty well with some good ram.Quote:
