You could OC more. I found stablility at 450/371. :beerchug:

yea. i'm no where near done. but u do have a better gpu cooler. i might put some as5 on the gpu if i need 2
i can't get higher than 410/378. 378 * 2 = 756
so my ram is running faster than xt speeds, but my gpu won't oc higher than 410, or it gets artifacts. is that normal? should i do something? y?
No that's actually amazing. The highest I can take my ram to is 371.25 and I show artifacts. Why don't you try these clocks:
371.25 Mem
450 Core
Then benchmark.
Or you could leave it at the 378 memory clock. But give us a link with those clocks.
:)

now, how do i get that mhz higher? adamp2p got up to 450
Lol...im not jelous..it just seems like every week he post another thread about some part or something...lol i duno i just always know he will do it....i said it was a nice system tho, which it is! :) Good job.
Lower your Memory and your core should maybe go higher...I think.
Howd yall overclock so much? I can go up like 40Mhz and yall go up 70Mhz on the core..lucky! lol

probably need better cooling.
i think that changed the thermal past ewould be a good idea because i read somewhere a while ago that teh manufacturers just put little blobs on then stick on the heatsync and that blob often only covers half of the gpu. not sure if that is correct or whether they still do it but its worth a try IMO.
I can get up to 350/450, but it doesn't stay stable for too long. That's an obvious sign of overheating. Still, not too shabby for a FX5200.
Perhaps you should think of upgrading, abu.

yea. i was thinking of adding some as5 to it. i still have a lot left over form installing the sp94. how do i remove the hs on the 9800 w/o damagin it?

if your card is held on by little plastic pins then use needle nose pliers to squeeze the ends on the back of the card (opposite side of the heatsink) and push slighty toward the card (dont scratch the card though, be careful). if the pins have springs on them it will be easier to remove because you dont have to push towards the card. When you take off the other pin dont let the heatsink bend too much or it might touch something else on teh card and breeak it or you could damage the gpu.
no, only the xt's do.Quote:

xt's have a sensor?? dang. ok. cuz the temp prob that i have hooked up to this front temp display thingy won't fit into the heatsink's fins. sigh. the things i do to make my system perfect

when u want to know the temp just hold it to the heatsync for a few seconds then read teh temp on the front of the case. Its not as convenient as having it stuck on but its better than nothing.
ok. thanks
I think I will apply some AS3 to my 9700Pro. How do I remove the other paste from the GPU that is already on there?
same as on a cpu i beleive. use rubbing alcohol. i prefer using lighter fluid though, it gets the thermal paste off so fast. but dont spill it all over stuff on the graphics card or u might get a fire...and remember to wipe it off the gpu after using it to remove the thermal paste.Quote:

Alright...just making sure I could put some liquid on the GPU lol.
dont put it directly onto teh gpu, put it no a cloth then rub the gpu with the cloth.Quote:

Any thing mate, just wipe the shit off.You dont need anything special ,just be carefull not to scratch the chip.Quote:

You can go as high as you get it cool mate,Once you're cool as possible then hit probs, just leave it until you get a better card to overclock.Thats as far as she'll go you'll just kill the thing..unless you can get it cooler, until one of the other components on the card pops ,like the resistors or diodes ,,they have heat limits too. :)Quote:

Use acetone to get the paste off my friend ,then wipe up with 91% isopropyl alcohol. Applying and Removing Arctic SilverQuote:

If you skim down towards the bottom it tells you what to use, I have acetone(not nail polish remover either) and it works like a charm

 u don't believe me?? :cry1:
i did get that high. but i think that's wat's limiting my core speed. i might lower it a bit to get the core higher
Well actually no you should benefit more from a higher memory clock. However, I find it hard to believe that you can achieve an memory overclock of 378 MHz per channel.
<_< B) check my sig now, if u don't believe me.Quote:

i'm doing 36C doing just regular surfing. is that too hot? my 9600 got 30C.
both get max 40C after playing heavy games. but is 36C not playing games a bit high?
I ONLY overclock before gaming. ;)
wat do u think bout my temp issue, if it is an issue
my PC is an EVIL beast
it destroyed 3 hard drives within a year
i blame the PC
that should be fine i think the max temp is like 75c or something...Quote:
