Fer Christ' Sake !

An idiot "friend" of my is running around boasting that he "overclocked" his graphics card from 64 -> 128 MB RAM.

My thoughts exactly - this guy had previously "reformatted" his PC by manually erasing all files. Fom "My Documents".

Turns out , he has a shared graphics card , which allows the memory allocated to graphics to be user-set. All he did was press F10 for BIOS , then steal 64 MB from his regular memory to be used by the card.

Net result : a slow computer and a lowest-end budget card with 128 MB RAM. Trouble is , he's running around claiming he is the new Tech Guru of the Age ™. I may not know much about computers (Oooh... buttons...) but I thought overclocking was slightly more complex - he won't believe me.

Please , tell me I'm right and he's an idiot. Please...

Overclocking is making something run faster then the factoring settings. What he did isnt OC'ing

i hate computer illeterate people...i dont hate them as long as thats all they are, but when they know nothing about computers, and believe that just because they dont that YOU dont either..thats what pisses me off. Or when people lie about shit they dont know about like HIM haha hes wrong.

Maybe you should ask your friend to define "overclocking" for you.

No doubt his explanation will amuse and horrify us all.
