whats the best one to use? and what makes it so good?
the one that comes with windows does the job,
I like O&O Defrag and Raxco PerfectDisk. Use the search function & Google.
You can get Diskeeper Pro HERE in the application section. If the above link doesnt work go to google and type in suprnova and click on the one that says: SuprNova.Org -> Universal BitTorrent source.
I think its the best of defragers.

It defrags the Windows swap file as well by rebooting the machine and working before Windows starts.
Obviously you can't use the computer while it's working so you start it before going to bed and leave it running.
Yeah right. Only if you want to wait a few days for a badly fragmented disk.Quote:

With simple system tweaks, you can set XPs defragmenter to optimize at boot time (obviously not the whole disk, but it helps), and clear the swap file at shutdown (it won't be fragged when your computer boots).
For system files, you can use this.
PageDefrag
Or, you can turn off the swap file, reboot, defrag, reboot, and turn it back on.
Three different ways to defrag the whole disk.
Because with NT-based machines, you can't typically move or alter files already in use (ex. The page or swap file). So you can set things to do it at boot or shutdown.
X-Setup Pro can make those tweaks much easier.
